You can all guess where I'm going with this, but has anyone ever seen a GN250 do a flying quarter?

Quarter Mile or 1/4 of a hour?
Im thinking average TRUE speed of 121kph with tail wind and small rider.

I'll take that as a no then.

Cool, I'll have to do it.
Assuming I can ride a motorcycle by now, without flipping, I'll aim for 150km/h. I reckon I'll be chuffed with that

It does not count if it hasnt got a 250 gn motor in it.

Been looking at those results :D
I'll have `44hp and I'd be pretty chuffed if it pulled 150.
I'm planning to have some extra lzy gearing though, for teh thumpy cruising.

Where are you going to find a quarter mile greased mineshaft in New Zealand?

I hear one just opened up...

Picky one with the right shaft angle and flying quarter might be a very apt description indeed.

It won't make much of a mess if I flip it though, but seeing a GN off the clock will be a laugh

I reckon Mossy was pretty accurate with 121km/h or so. On a real good day.
I know a GN can (eventually) see just over 130 indicated on a flat road.
I know a 300cc kitted one will do that with relative ease.
So somewhere around 120k true speed might be it.

But I have 44hp/47nm all below 6,000rpm and other unfaired and light bikes seem to do over 160 real speed with similar HP, so it'll be interesting to see what it'll manage.

How manky have you managed to make poor Geoff look? Is it really really obvious you've fucked with it?

If not, I'd really like to see somebody who didn't realize you'd swapped motors jump on, and expecting GN performance ( ) give it willy. I imagine it would be a fair surprise if you weren't expecting it

Won't look manky at all :2thumbsup 271829 it's this with polished engine covers and a kick start lever
It still looks much the same, unless you know what GN engine covers look like ;)

Slower than a decent 600cc will do as a standing quarter is my guess.

;) Probably the slower of both my 600s...
I think it'll be faster over the flying than my ZX6 is over the standing quarter.

Lying on the seat like superman with your left arm tucked into your side and no wing mirrors with the correct gearing ill put a fiver on it doing 100mph

Yes, I'm pretty sure I have. I recall a noob on a Ginny at Dalefield Rd one year, from Paraparaumu if I remember correctly. I'd go looking but I'm on my phone in a motel & saving my wifi for pron.

An old open cast one might do the trick ... preferably one still full of water ... (keeps everything clean ... eh .. !!!)

With the 589 in it? If it hits 100mph, I'll buy you a beer, and vice versa? I think it'll be achievable.
Considering my inability to leave a motor standard.
It's going to run a 40mm slide carb instead of 38 and some fairly nonrestrictive pipes that come out of the top of the motor and make noises.
