Was there yesterday 'for a ride':banana: and talking to the manager Sonny (Mt Cook Backpackers Lodge) he mentions he's organised a bike rally here, so some details :

$40 includes bed in a 4 bed dorm welcome drink and badge !
Room upgrades from $117.
Bar and grill, band from 9pm till 1am, bar open from 3pm
Discounts on local activities, glacier expl $125 pp, argo tours $60 pp.

I ended up at Mt Cook a couple of months ago, stayed at the Hermitage which is a couple of levels up from tenting. If I stayed at the backpackers I would definitely try and con my way in to their all you can eat buffet breakfast. Legendary.

Might make a change though eh,theres plenty organised by clubs that are a complete wank fest.

As good as the ride is to Mt Cook ... apart from the camper vans, cops, and wind ... and more camper vans. You need to pick your days to go.

Weekends are not those days. Too many of all the above ...
