Hi all,
Have just got a replacement engine for my Firestorm(I blew-up the last one). The engine is from a 2005 Firestorm which has the HISS system. My bike is a 2000 VTR1000F which did not come with that system installed. The replacement engine came with the wiring loom & key which is good. I have been advised that I will need to use the loom from the replacement engine because of the HISS system. Do I need to replace the all of the existing wiring loom or can I just change the ignition barrell wiring.
Thks

Use your original wiring loom.

Use your original wiring loom.
True that, why make it way harder than it needs to be?

As the HISS key will only talk to the ecu that went with your new motor and you don't mention that this was supplied my advice would be to connect your new motor to your existing wiring. It should all plug up as the HISS system is a direct feed from the key barrel to the ECU doesn't connect to any engine plugs. having worked on lots of VTR1000s how the hell did you blow one up in the first place they are near bulletproof.

Thks guys - was unsure with regards to the Hiss system. Definitely would prefer to use the existing wiring. FYI - I blew the last one up cause I was a dumb arse, forgot to check the oil & killed it.

As said... use the old loom.
If the sensors are different (is one's injected, may run diff crank triggers etc) swap them over and away you go
Then give it to me, you don't deserve it :2thumbsup
