Hi everyone, heres my story so far.......

after moving from the UK (pomme bastard i know) to NZ in 2009 it wasnt long before i needed a bike for therapy, so i thought going back to my roots of motocross seemed like a good idea. i bought a WR250F off a mate and hit the dirt, i realised quckly that the wr was well underpowered for my needs.

Whist recovering from spine surgery (caused by one of the many times i fell off the WR) i thought sell the bike and get a bigger one. So managed to sell the old girl and bought a nice big KTM525. i absolutly love the big orange thing, it trys to pull my arms off every ride and it can spit me off in spectacular fasion, but i feel more at home on it after owning a couple of big motards in the UK.

When i left england i also left behind my beloved bikes....... my Honda 954 RR 'blade and my Honda SP1. Both bikes i had tuned and spent alot of time and cash making them spiecial, so they rode exactly how i liked....sharp and fast. I used to get up at sunrise just to ride her majestys highways like they were my own personal race tracks, i also perfected my art by doing track days and testing myself on the unrestricted roads of the Isle of Man where there are no speed limits on the open roads.

Since i've been in NZ all my riding has been on the dirt, doing trail rides and eating sand at woodhill! As much as this feeds my desire for speed and riding like a twat i am longing for the feel of tarmac, the scream of a big 4, the punch of a V twin, but most of all i miss the cornering.....from the moment you spot the corner coming, sliding your arse off the seat, bang down through the gears, waiting till the last moment before diving in, the rmp's peak as you lean to the edge, the sensation of a knee slider dragging, the feel of a tyre on the edge of grip, hit the apex, start winding on the power, she's fightin you all the way! rear breaks traction just a little! the front lifts! 3rd!4th!5th gear! chin on the tank, tuck in behind the faring as tight as possible ready for the next one.........

THIS is why i ride, THIS is my BIKING NIRVANA.

Get your hands on a road bike and head down to the Coro TT. Every sunday through summer.

Older fireblades are pretty cheap in Nz.

SP1 eh, fuck that must have been good fun. An RC51 is high up on my wish list.

ooh they are! not as much top end as a 4 pot, but the grunt they have makes them evil! honda massively over fueled them so there shit at slow speeds and have to be rode like a twat as a result. love it.

They are fucking cheap now, for waht they are. Theres one here that is utterly original, unmolested and low mileage. Its the most expensive one I have seen at $13k, but I dont really see how you could go wrong. I heard of an OK one that sold for $8500 because the guy needed the money in a hurry.

Funny OP should mention nirvana (usually found under "N" in the "alternative" section of your record store) I did a couple of corners really well yesterday on the Devauchelle GP, to the point where I said out loud in my helmet, Oooooh, nice! So I get where you're coming from. I'm going a lot slower probably. and not knee down on the road.
