I have a 1988 Yamaha Virago XV400, which is an XV535, downrated for the Japanese learner licence with 40hp and of course the smaller block at 400cc. It has a red warning light that comes on when 80kph is exceeded ... my question ... is this an overspeed warning or is it part of the Japanese licence thing and the light is a warning of the maximum learners speed? Does anyone have any idea what the engine is revving at, at 100kph?
Thanks,
Rhys

My 1986 FZX has that light too, although it never comes on at any speed, suspect the last owner disabled it.

Absolutely.... unless a red 'over truth' light comes on at the bottom of your monitor....

No way mate, nobody on KB has ever touched a bike before, we're like the Indian ladies at our...local help desks.

Change the Power Band to a red one ... the light won't come on again ... :innocent:

The red light means the flux capacitor is charged and ready, simply accelerate to 88mph and enjoy your time travel. Bring me back a hoverboard!

Thanks to the KB experts I have sorted out the problem and covered all of the warning lights with duct tape .... no more annoying lights, and:
I no longer have to dip the headlight beam
I no longer have to cancel the indicators
I am now unable to find neutral
The 80 kph warning light does not shine
All sorted!!!!
Cheers,
Rhys
