I want to rewire my Commando, get rid of the last traces of Lucas......well most of its melted away.....
anyone know where you can get coloured cable by the metre other than from Supercheap or Ripco?
I'd like to use proper colours and some tracer colours too.....even maybe use proper connectors for a change....
cheers

Three core flex, it's already colour coded. Lights, stop light and ignition - what else is on a Commando ?

I just go to this place .....
http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-onlinestore/home/homepage.php
I used to try locally , but too much running around
the catalogue is good ,
and you can size the wire first , then order to length ( plus cock up factor )
they even do cloth covering !! ala lucas
though Im suspect about the thin cable , it dont look right !!!

flex is single solid conductor. fine for AC shit. less than ideal for DC shit. DC likes many many small strands twisted together.
surface area and electron flow and whatnot.

I knew a guy who went to K Simpson for a lot of electrical stuff for his old Ducati 750.

They're on Sale Street in town, I've never been there but I think he used to get cable and connectors there. Might be worth giving them a ring.

cheers y'all, I work in East Tamaki and found Dale Auto Electrical has cable by the metre, probably relay the lights while I am at it so as to give Mr Lucas's switches an easier time.
Think I might even convert it to negative earth as I have binned the original voltage control and zener diode :mad:bollocks.
