Can someone please tell me about access on Lake Sumner Road to Loch Katrine? Some friends are talking about camping in there for new years, they'd drive to the end of the gravel, then walk the few K's to Loch Katrine. Fuck that, i'd take the GSA right in assuming its ok.
Whats the road like? Is it public access? Any trouble to a loaded two-up GSA? I've only seen a cycling website with info, and DOC site just says '4WD'.

Well then, One Wheel Drive is just completely out of the question, obviously.

Just found the information on adventure guide. Should have used my eyes properly hehe. But road conditions are typically ok?

Typical gravel road mostly, larger pot holes/less road maintenance the nearer you get the loch. However, it has been over a year since I have been there. Could be dependent on the state of the washouts/stream crossings, maybe someone else will be along soon with more up to date info.

I believe I need to include the map key on individual pages, not just on the home page. If you go to the home page http://www.adventureguide.co.nz at the bottom is has all the different coloured tracks and the grades of each. The 4X4 section into Lock Katrine is a grade 3 and remains fairly well maintained as it is needed for farm management use, 2 up is fine. It is a really fun track to ride, its nice country up there

Road into Loch Katrine is drivable in a bog standard 4wd with a trailer, should be no probs for a bike, last time I went in there was nothing nasty that you can't skirt around the edges of.

I did read that the gate there is now permantly locked no access past to Lake Sumner, don't know if that's still the case or not.
