Good luck with your search. You may find that the words "good" and "cheap", as well as being quite subjective, are not comfortable bed mates.
An option could be to put Trade Me to good use and see what you can find in good nick through that channel.

A search on Trademe for 'Alpinestar leathers' brought up a number of options for under $1000.

If you go to FC-Moto shop you can get a good deal on new Alpine Star and other popular brands for under a thousand. You will have to wait for like 20-25 days for shipment (from Germany) but, I was able to save $650 as compared to if I bought new in NZ. They have got an easy was to show the prices in NZ dollars and the VAT tax is subtracted at checkout so it is even less then the price listed.

Also a link here about fc-moto with others' reviews that have bought from there.

I suggest going to your local trackday, or asking around the local clubs about gear.
You might find there are a few people with gear that no longer fits, or is no longer used, but is in good condition, that they are willing to sell on to a young aspiring casey stoner.
Thats probably your best bet if you are on a budget but still want good gear.

I have a set of Quasi bike leathers Jacket and Pants that I could flick off to you. I will have to check the size though. Can't remember off hand what size they are.
I will post again tonight when I have had a look.

So long as you don't want new new there are deals to be had on tard me. Just make sure you try them on before you buy...
It is a well known fact that exposure to air shrinks leathers.
Mine were nice and baggy a few years ago but now they have shrunk

Don't need to, having to get off the bike all the time to push it round corners keeps me trim!

Berik Hi Flow 1 piece and also the AXO Talon 1 piece suits are both under $1000 and quite possibly can pick up a second hand set off trademe cheaper again.
