Fucken NZTA - licensing changes!

Hi all,

As it happens, the nazi bitches at NZTA have totally brick-walled me from sitting my full till Nov next year. I would have been eligible 2 Nov this year, 6 months after I got my restricted.

What really stings is that I got caught out by only a few weeks. Worse, I held a full license in Aus for many years, but when I came to NZ I only transferred the driver license (planning to transfer the bike license "later"). Now, they won't recognise my Aus bike license.

Result? I'm stuck on this fucken restricted license - with my 10pm to 5am curfew - for the next bloody year!!! Assholes!!!!!!

I hate to be one of those people mate, but the fault really is your own. Both for being lazy in transferring your aussie license over to a NZ one, and for not reading about the rule changes and what they contain.

You could have booked your full test in November before October 1st, and been totally fine to take your full test in November. A bit of due diligence on your part would have seen you clear of this entire mess :bleh:

Constructively, if you have need for work or whatever to be out past 10pm, you *CAN* get a dispensation to be allowed to travel after 10pm on days that you work. It requries a bit of hoop jumping, but otherwise its not a big deal.

Alternatively, you could just simply drive sensibly after 10pm, and politely ignore curfew. You'll only get bagged for it if you're doing something else naughty :nono: Really the curfew is a pretty minor thing to be upset about.

well, good thing you have a car for between 10pm and 5am then. If you don't, sucks to be you. I don't get why you didn't just transfer both.

At the time, I didn't have the money or the time to do both.
Now, since my Aussie license is more than 10 years lapsed, it counts for nothing over here.:puke:
If I had the cash I'd take a day off work, fly to Sydney, sit a road code and a quick practical and restore my old full Aus license, then come back here and upgrade automatically.

Worst thing is - if you ride past 2 cameras in a row, the computers will look at the time difference, and compare this with the distance between the cameras. In other words, look out for a lot more envelopes in your letterbox with your full name showing through a clear window. :Police:

I didn't think they were trialling the average speed thing yet. :oi-grr: Then again it was a while after they started trialling the number plate recognition and differential speed cameras before the media said anything. Gee one might even suspect the media only published it because word was getting out already, tin is slipping again.

Oh joy! Revenue gathering at its finest. I'm usually a law abiding citizen, but admit to lapsing on the bike rego sometimes to juggle other priority bills.

Between this and the drastic increase of bike regos, it makes you wonder if it is worth putting it on the road at all :(
