Catch & Kiss (primary school- great fun amazing how slow you can run when a pretty girl is chasing you :devil2: )

Yeah, forgot about bullrush.
What about scrag, a bit like bullrush but without any rules - just chase people and scrag them?
4 square.
Dead arm (punch each other in the bicep until you can't raise your arm to punch again).
Blackbird

Hangman, Manic Miner and Tornado Low Level on the Sinclair!
We've still got the Sinclair all wrapped up in a garage cupboard - couldn't bear to part with it. 5 minute program load times from a tape player and you had to have the treble set just so or it wouldn't load. Our daughter started using it when she was 2 1/2 and she's 22 now!

Just another name for bullrush I think.I really enjoyed play outside with the neighbourhood kids, roaming the whole area on our pushbikes,we were gone all day in summer. My girls played out on the road with the local kids, but didn't go far without us....now my boys play computer games and every activity is done under adult supervision...bloody hell, they are BOYS for christs sake, where are the skinned knees, blood noses, the tales of scaling the cliffs like Tarzan down at the quarry, home made boats that sink.Society is doomed, boys play action games on a computer  sigh.....

Mate, you should have tried it with a water filled tennis ball :devil2: If you missed the thing would bounce around for ages- especially when it was thrown at 130+ km/h- and when it hit it damn near knocked you off your feet. Left a bruise sometimes too.

Bullrush. One of mankind's crowning achievements. Caters for all ages and abilities from the soft "touch" version to the full-contact, crash-tackle model. I can't believe that the politically correct soft-cocks amongst us want to ban this sport of kings.
Other classics included Tee-ball and the legendary Rubbishtin Rounders.
And don't forget card games (for those of us who were in their twenties at least before the PC and the video game were invented). Black Bitch, 500, Euchre...
And the always spectacular team strip version of mahjong...

Prior to you even being a twinkle in your old mans eye, I used to like 'Asteroids'. No such thing as a PC then tho. Had to play it in a Pub with a machine. When I finally got a 'puter I liked 'Road Rash'. Can anyone recommend a good bike game like it?

True, very very true. Bloody sad really. Has anyone noticed that there are some on this thread for whom 'childhood games' were something played outside in the sun (or the rain and mud  ) and there is another group for whom games were played on the computer thingy?

Make you wonder if the computer games will end up like in the movie "Strange Days", where people’s experiences end up on the black market as a virtual reality movie in your head. . Considering that Sony was quoted as looking at bio-technology for the entertainment business it could be a reality in our lifetime.

I'm biased of course,we all are in our own heads - but I reckon kids in the 50s,60s and maybe the early 70s had the best carefree time of all.My parents never knew fun - my mother and her sisters had a childhood from hell, and ran the farm during the war,my father came from a broken home and as the oldest worked from 13 to help his mother and brother and sisters exist - watching us run around free without a care in the world must off been so heartwarming for them,a childhood dream lived through their kids.
But society has become so protective....and so have we - so many nutters out there, our kids are never out of our eye...in my day my friends homes were my homes,we just walked in and out with just a ''hi Mrs ***'' - now we don't trust our neighbours.
So,my boys play computer games....I must ask them what they are.

Maybe kids are at greater threat, if they wander off, from being run over by one of the many vehicles ferrying other kids around to keep them safe......

I can still remember impressing the girls in class after the 1 o'clock bell rang with the mud and blood from lunchtime bullrush or scrag......

Hmm unless you're talking about being like 15 or so at the time you must not be much older than still being a kid...
And if we are gonna count outside games...
Kick the can
Night tag
tag
Red Rover
Football (full contact no pads, maybe that's why I like Rugby so much now..)
Baseball
Soccer
Street hockey
Hide and Seek
Used to pretend to be great explorers and go roaming around our neighborhood wich at the time was surounded by thick woods. (South Texas place called Uvalde west of San Antonio) Found a stream once that wasn't on any town map and claimed that as our club house. Went back down there a few years ago and the fort we built out of scrap wood was still standing and still didn't leak in the rain.
And me and my mates down the street used to get a great kick out of acting out that weeks eppisode of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Always remembered every line and scene even though we had only just seen it the once.
Fuck I miss those days now..

But are there any more than before?
Exactly! Are there anymore nutters, or are we just better at finding out about them? The media certainly delight in telling us all about it. The thing is, your kid has a very very low chance of being *insert heinous act here* by some sick pervert, or run over or whatever- we all know that.... but who wants to be the one who must live with the consequences if it happens to your kid?

Nice work  - When I was a kid! - I grew up, had a family and changed careers twice before computers were in the workplace - let alone homes.
Most common game for me as a kid was motorcycles. Had them since I was a toddler. Flat out on Minibikes or a push bike with cardpoard pegged in the spokes so it sounded like one.
Hours and hours and hours of backyard cricket. Some Basketball and Soccer goalie which I can still do OK today.
First computer game was Space Invaders - by the bucket of 20c loads.
The submarine one was next fave.
Mac cricket was my first on the 'puter and I still play it.
