We were racing at Taupo for round 6 and I was very excited because I had only ridden there once and that was only for half a day at a track day. I was really nervous but I couldn’t wait to go out on the track. The day before racing we went to the test day, I was glad that we went because it got me a bit more confident than I would have been and it meant that I had some practice before race day.
Practice/Qualifying
For Practice/Qualifying I was really excited to see how close I was to my sister and if I would be able to beat her at this round or not. I felt good when I came in. I was 3 seconds off Mihi and I was doing the same times as Roman but qualified ahead of him. My fastest time was 1:39.127. I was really happy I really wanted to beat Mihi this round.
Race One
It was close between me, Mihi and Roman in this race. I didn’t beat Mihi but came near to it. I was doing 1:35.418 and Mihi was doing 1:35.468. I wasn’t far off beating her and thought that if I broke later into turn one and into the final set of esses before the front straight I would be able to pass her and stay ahead.
Race Two
I was determined to beat Mihi. I just needed to get at least two seconds faster. I came in and I was so happy, I had finally beaten my OLDER sister!  Me and Roman had a pretty good battle as well and I had beaten him too. I had finally got my $100 from Dad, and the bragging rights! Mihi will never be able to live this down no matter how many excuses she comes up with:msn-wink: My fastest time was 1:32.955, I was two seconds faster than Mihi.
Race Three
This race for me was just a fun race because I had already beaten Mihi and I didn’t need to push or beat anyone. My fastest time was 1:33.857.
This was probably the best round of them all! I got the $100 that dad never thought I would win, well at least not in the winter series. I would like to thank K2 racing, Moto Academy, VMCC and Mum and Dad.
Over-all summary of the winter series
This year has been a big learning curve for me. I have learnt so much about racing and have gotten better at racing faster. When I started out I was pretty slow and not very confident. Just by keeping on riding and talking with Steve about the things I could do better, and what things would help improve my confidence, I set better PBs each round.
I’ve really enjoyed the atmosphere at the track and how friendly and funny the other racers are. I like it so much I am hoping to do the Bridgestone Winter Series again next year, as well as the PMCC Summer series and the nationals the following year.
From the first round to the last I had been getting closer and closer to beating Mihi and have been achieving my goals that I have been setting but all this wouldn’t have been possible without all the support I have been given. I would like to thank everyone for their support and helpfulness.
