Can anyone explain to me the meaning of the following term please? Race qua race.

I came across it on another site and have been trying to google an explanation but am coming up with a big fat nothing.
And I find that highly irritating.

I was assuming it was a term used in racial taxonomy. I just can't find something that confirms it, or gives meaning of the term within contextual sentences.

Yes, I've been on this one. Just couldn't quite understand what context one would use the term in a conversation.

Lol... I really *shouldn't* enjoy your opinions so much.

But anywho... However much I may be taking liberties with my own body, my children are raised as healthily as I can make it.

If they decide to imbibe once they have left my care, that will be their choice ;)

Here is the sentence where I saw the term in question:

"He already knew what I looked like though, so he was just asking to know my race qua race. "

Context: someone had asked this person what race they hailed from, and the addressee had taken offence.

I definitely prefer the latter. And I happen to have a few candidates in mind who could do with a little hammering. Thick skulls often need gentle persuasion.
