Bit eerie looking at it from the air.

Bit eerie looking at it from the air.

And on the ground it's even more ethereal, very quiet ...no cars, no people .....

It almost looks like a half finished model from a train set.

the real shame is that over two years after the biggest quake,a lot of it looks like it happened yesterday

It's amazing how little difference it has made to life in Christchurch. The inner city was accepted as being 'dead' for the most part, this has just driven home how bad the council had let it become. If it wasn't for money, I'm not sure anybody would bother rebuilding it, and I'm not sure many of the residents would care.

Oh, with the exception of getting really pissed on weekends and being a drunk fuck wit. That part of Christchurch has gone west...

Addington is the new centre I'm told, I see today that Twinkletoes has been doing some more work on the Holiday Inn, Cnr Cashel and High St , now down to the third floor.

Thankyou for the pics Stylo. I am dumb founded. I was in ChCh visiting R1madness in early 2010 & have fond memories of us climbing up to look out over the Square from the church tower. A band was playing each day in the Square. A lovely city.

Good luck with the future

With a number of the still- standing buildings yet to be demolished I expected more TNT.
Its a very good opportunity to change the focus of CDB business and transport.

Looks like a good opportunity to re-build Chch into a better place - wider roads, more trees and green than before, more space... Hope they make the best of it.

Hope they make the best of it.

Fat chance of that - the rebuild is being dictated by a small group of politicos and vested interests, the public is being ignored and excluded - typical NZ

I ride down to see the City every six months or less and while as surreal as it is I'm a bit excited about what the future holds. The City has an excellent opportunity to start again and I love the way they will use the green spaces..
