If this (http://www.trademe.co.nz/structure/auction_detail.asp?id=32820916&key=29368665) only has 100bhp at the wheel then how can a stock GSXR have 170?

Because its a shitty, air cooled, low tech, over the hill V-twin that someone's tried to turn into a race bike.

Only homos race 900SS's.

Cause its a vtwin and ussualy have more torque at low revs and ps a stock GSXR does not make 170 at the rear wheel maybe at the crank but not at the rear wheel.

Early 90's air cooled 2 valve engine , verse 2000's 4 valve high rpm watercooled engine , Vtwin verse inline four etc. This bike will however have an excellent torque curve.

Engine configuration. V-Twin engines are not able to put out as much HP as a similar size inline four engine.

I take it you either know Chris Boyle or you intend bidding on the bike so you can race it ?

Actually, it was aimed at another 900SS racer, but Chris'll do. He'll also see the humour. Unlike some.

900SS was never really the shit hot model anyway. Infact, they are normally pretty fuken slow!!!!

If you want to compair a ducati to a GSXR, you'd have to compair a Ducati 749 with a K5 GSXR 600 or a 999 with a K5 GSXR 750. There is no such road going production Ducati to match a K5 GSXR1000 though... :motu:

I just looked at the price and Holly fuck!!!!! :thud:

I'd much rather buy a 749S/999 for that much, even if I wanted to get a Ducati! Otherwise, I'd just get a GSXR and go fuck loads quicker, not to mention all the money I'd save from getting the GSXR!!!

If you wanted to race this bike, the only class you can race it in would be Superbikes/F1 and you'd get left behind by miles even if you were the likes of Chris Haldane, Tony Rees, Jarad Love etc etc! The only other class you can race it in is Clubmans which is a beginers class and I'd doubt anyone would ever spend 30,000 when they are only just starting racing.

I have serious doubts whether a GSX R 1000 does deliver 170 bhp at the rear wheel. The Hayabusa develops about 150 rwbhp and the Blackbird around 135 rwbhp.

I can't understand blowing $60k on a 2 valve duc when you could do wonders with a fraction of that money and a cbr600.

Ummm don't know what that is but you can get a second hand 250cc GP bike for about that much with 100hp and a dry weight of about 100 Kgs... Yes that's 1hp per KG!!!!

A good rider can smoke most people on one of thoes around a race track.

Eg. http://www.rscycles.com/Bikes/250/02%20rs250/250cc2.htm

That's pretty good value, especially when you consider the extensive spares it comes with.

And that's a brand spanking new RS M/Racer, not a second hand one.

This is a gp200 (photo is off matt's bike at the cold kiwi). There is a dude in the states that puts crx250 motors in them but the beauty is he hides them so it looks like a standard lambretta.

Hey, that reminds me of a nutter that used to live in Palmerston North. Had the most mental Lambretta anyone'd ever seen. Rumour has it it was RZ350 powered. :Punk:

My GSXR1000 K3 put out 150RWHP Just after the Run in oil was dropped out of it then had new oil put in then ran on Brain Bernards Dyno so I think a Busha should have about 162+RWHP at least !!

Sweet, I am not really into chain drive though as its not what they came out with I prefer a good TS1, there is one in this month scootering mag (thats right I have a subscription to scootering) that has 38HP at the wheel which isnt bad on 10inch wheels, when the bikes wet weight is less than 120kg.
