If a vehicle is on HP, is it required to be registered and have a current wof at all times? The vehicle wont be used for a while so I want to put the rego on hold untill about Feb. It is insured,
It needs to be insured while finance is held on the vehicle, I believe. For it to be insured, I understand it has to be road legal. or does the insurance requirements just apply in the case of a claim?

If your insurance company (and you should check your policy, not rely on what you read on here) says it must remain WOF'd and registered then that's what it must be. Having said that, if the lack of WOF or rego isn't relevant to the cause of your claim (i.e. it was stolen from your garage) then they can't use that as a reason not to pay out (they used to, which is one reason why we now have the insurance ombudsman service).
So, long story short, no it should not have to be registered and WOF'd at all times, just insured.

You need to check the terms and conditions of insurance and HP that you've signed up for. Alternatively, ring them and ask.
