A new speed record for a solar-powered motorcycle has been set. Lightning Motorcycles recorded 189mph on the 1.3 mile course at El Mirage in California.
The motorcycle is powered by a portable solar array that feeds power via a 48-kWh battery pack that fuels the bike’s on-board batteries. Potentially, this would allow the bike to stay “fuelled” indefinitely.
