Myself and Death INC are going to have a blast out to waihi way, as it's been ages since we've headed out there, mostly been doing the loop lately, and the road to whangamata from hikaui rates as one the best in our books, neither me or Death have the budget or the rubber to do the whole loop.

Sooooo.......

Meet for Aklders, Papakura Autobarn at 9.30am for departure at 10.00am, aiming to get to kopu Mobil for 11am, meet with any other riders keen for it from h town or the likes, onto Whangamata (lunch maybe, i dont eat, blew my food money last week), then onto Waihi and most prolly back the way we just come to Akld.

Most of you know the pace me and Death can get along at, but this ride is open to all riders, we'll make sure someone is at any major turnoffs to point out the way to the unsure. Those who haven't ridden out that way before, you're missing out, so come along, great roads.

:ride: Cool see you there :ride:

:ride: Cool see you there :ride:

remember to keep it safe I hear there is this tricky corner on the way from wahi back north, think theres some yellow marks and scratches so keep an eye out for it!

oh and be careful in the first corners off the kopu road heading to whagas after you turn off the main coro road, the corrugations on the corners have gotten quite bad. Never forget when we where sitting at wahi and heard the ambo start up, old Death was up quick as I have seen him move and back up the road at a decent pace.

He can move even quicker now, the old man greased up the bearings on his walking frame. :Pokey:
I dont recall any dangerous corners, round there, i dont make the same mistake twice (coming from a guy whos written two bikes off doing wheelies  )

To fucken right ..... so who owns a blue R1??? Apparently he wasn't with the litre boys just a tag along.

well a good day out got to try my new wheels and when i get that suspensions tweaked (cheers for the advice death) and get my gear changing sorted (need to figure out which gear to be in) i'll be away laughing. My initial opinion is a pretty f@#cking awsome bike. Cheers for the ride guys and gals cept for the last tiny bit it was good weather and good roads :Punk: :Punk:

Secong note bought a lotto ticket on the way home for the following reasons.
1: My little encounter with a blue R1
2: just out of clevedon doing about 110-120 on the straight bit a quite damp the back tyre just stepped out sideways. Then swung the other way. So with the bike remaining verticle the back just kept swinging wildly from side to side for about 100m. Don't know how the F#@k i managed to hold it together but i ended up straining my back and leg muscles   .
So stopped in at botany and bought a lotto ticket... 8.5 million this week so wish me lucK

thanks for the ride guys.. thoroughly enjoyed it, and love the roads..
Was one small mis-hap, which is pic'd, just cos of how luck you were to miss that hole! Hope the bike is ok, and you aren't too bruised up..

But the rest of the day was a good one for the ride.. so thanx everyone!
I'd mention the highlights, but the whole day was pretty much one. New tyres n all, and watching bruce leave me thru a corner with the same tyres on was pretty cool.. and seeing Death do a monster wheelie for a while.. impressive. No idea why the back tyre is gone so quickly tho

16th August 2005, 11:44
seems it was a nice ride... all the bikes looks big - so gues it was a fast ride.

Who is the one crashed the bike..? man that was bad but lucky enough bike didnt go in that ditch..... that would be very sad then

bugjuice
16th August 2005, 12:13
I won't say, just incase. But yeah, he was lucky not to find that ditch.. He and the bike seperated before the ditch anyway, so I don't think it would have been too bad, but the bike could have been a mess. And it wasn't rider error, or speeding, or whatever that caused it. I saw the lot, and it was just bad luck.

The ride was a good one tho, the smallest bike (I think) was Draco's CBR400 and wasn't too far behind everyone else.. was a good pace most of the day

Thanks Bugjuice for loading the pic of my Honda having a rest. The bike realizes I'm so old that I needed a rest too. Yeah more bloody luck. V.ros that wern't no ditch but a washout dropping into a gully. It coulda been my graveyard it was that close.
Anyway up to that point it was a bloody good ride and thanks to Bruce and Death for organising it.
I'm a bit late responding to the thread but I would like to express my thanks to all the guys and gals that stopped to help me up and get the bike going again. (that excludes all the "funny" comments of course). It was a hell of a way to introduce myself to the Hamilton bunch.
Good thing the missus hasn't noticed the damage otherwise I'd be in deeper shit that I usually am.

How are yah Saul. It was the Whangamata side of the the traffic lites around the big washout. It was the turbulence from LB an Death,s passing that did it. Nah I was too close to Sixpack kinda forgot I'm not racing a pushie where 50mm off a back wheel is not close enough. Anyway it was good to meet you and hopefully we can catch up again soon.

We left around 10am from Papakura, got to Kopu little after 11am, had lunch (longer than expected stop) at Whangamata, onto Waihi and back the same way we just did, you would expect to be back in auckland by 5pm easy, er with no hicups along the way eh Paul :ride: the group had all sorts of riders, just because they were mostly bigger bikes doesn't mean they are all fast riders.

Bugjuice since when is getting a new bike being taken for a ride and I have 1st option on the wreck. Cyclespot want to ensure that all damaged parts are replaced as the bike is less than 12 months old (only 3900km). This is fair and they could presumably get it repaired under the write off cut off point by using repaired parts and make more money than supplying a new bike.

The price of the body work is extorsionate and a fair few other bunch of parts are scratched.

We will have to see what the Assessor agrees to or rather will not agree to. At the moment one road and one track bike has an appeal. Thats if the frame is straight of course. Find that out on Saturday at Puke. :woohoo: Whoops wish I hadn't thought of that now.
