Can we make this thread a sticky?
A mate of mine (new to biking) is buying a bike, and he asked me what he should look out for when buying a used bike.
I suggested that he look out for:
1) cracked fairings as an indication of it having been crashed
2) judgement by eye for bent frame/headstock (is there another way to check more scientifically? how?)
3) number of km's as an indication of internal wear
4) level of wear of tyres, as this will add immediate costs
5) lack of wof/rego for any extended period of time
6) check the rego for it having been restored from a crash or previously written off (although I am not sure where)
I would be keen on hearing of any other things to check for or any cool methos of checking for issues?
If this thread is made into a sticky, it could be used as reference material for anybody buying a bike.
When replying, try to be constructive, explain it like you are explaining to a noob, and try and avoid abuse (Drew).
