Nah, Just a casual (two kids, partner, full time job and & retarded dog etc etc)...Im lucky if I manage to get on for a quick game most nights (But the game is certainly geared well to support clans)

Gimmie a yell if you see me on tho, always up for some platoon action (good for upto tier9)

Schweet! You don't have to be on all the time to be in a clan, there are heaps of casual ones. I was in one with a bunch of NZ and AU dudes but I logged on after a few months away the other day and they pretty much all stopped playing when I did (just by chance I'm sure XD) I can't add anyone my self anymore so I'm jumping ship haha. Just search for New Zealand or Aus (or maybe not Aus? haha) in the clan list and you'll see a bunch with 20-50 members that are just casual.

I'm not even sure what tier I'm up to now. I think mainly 8's but I've started on the Chinese and the like because the lower tiers seem to be way more fun :banana:
Those T1's with the machine guns in particular are awesome haha.

If you're just using it for games and webby stuff, two cores are fine. At this stage (AFAIK) only things like photoshop and CAD software make the most of anymore than two cores. Spend the extra money on RAM, that is something that the more the better is fo sho!

Yeh but do they even make 2core processors still? Ram reaches the point of diminishing returns real quick, more than 4gig is rarely used on a pleb build I would think.

3570 is a good processor for games, and 660ti is a good gfx card, couple with a asus p8z77 mobo and 4-8 gig of ram and you've got a solid build. Add an SSD if you have money left over.

The CPU is a Phenom II X2 550 BE. It is a dual core built on a quad core. You can enable the other two cores although it might not be 100% stable. I had it running as a quad core for awhile without any drama. You will need an AM3 motherboard. Confused yet? :bleh:

CPU might not be much good to you but the graphics card can handle newer games at low-medium settings.

Generally the advantage of a quad is going to be seen by smoother framerates (less dips), rather than a significantly higher average framerate.

If your budget is like $500, yeah, by all means go dual. The extra $100 you'd spend to get a quad is better spend on GPU horsepower.

At a budget of anything over say $800 though I'd start looking at a quad.

That budget figure is just mobo/cpu/gpu tho - no extras, HDD KB+mouse, monitor blah blah.

Good to know :niceone: Last time I was looking they were a waste of time on games, but that was a while ago so I probably should have kept my trap shut and done a bit of reading instead. I brush up on all of this when I build a new computer. Last one for 4 years ago and the next one won't be any time soon sadly....ish.

Oh and on the topic of games, I finally got RA3. I didn't know it came out in 09! Seems like only 2 years ago. Sadly Gamespy is gone now though so no online games to be had.

Yeh willy the in-game chats are generally pretty cancerous as they are from all the people who can't get into any good clans/outfits. We use voip which give it a lot nicer social aspect; not for WoT but heaps of other games.

Only when it first launched, now it's completely separate. Some people have accounts on each to focus on different lines easier. These people have way to much spare time :lol:

Yeh you get that with some clans for sure, probably >75% tbh. But there are also generally more 'casual' options out there, people not taking the game too seriously; provides a bit more entertainment, especially if the game itself is a bit dull that session.

Probably wouldn't make a shitload of diff to me anyways, I do have a (yet unused) NA account & my Aswan account is only level 4 anyways so swapping it over is mostly a waste of time

As one who does clan alot - sometime when you see people not playing the objective, not doing things to help the team (dropping Ammo, Repairing vehicles, not reviving etc.) it can be rage inducing.

Sometimes I might have shitty stats in a round - because instead of being a hang-back hero, I am trying to push on objectived and getting reamed because of no team support.

It's in arena commander alpha, it's more like pre-alpha and lacks a lot of support for different peripherals. So of course it is dissapointing if you judge it just on what has come out. But stil looks epic based on what is to come.

Star citizen seems to be getting up a full steam on the hype train, ships going on sale for $2,500 USD each this week, for a game whose time to full release is still measured in years. If you fancy getting in on the alpha/beta or just getting the final game for cheaper than its release price (unless they make it F2P), they're doing cheaper intro packages (45usd) which may be half price in limited numbers later in the week.

Also, just ordered me a 980 Strix, gotta play that Far Cry 4 as it is meant to be played. If anyone is interested in a good condition asus 680 Top let me know. Reckon it's still good for 1080p gaming at great settings on latest games, but fps is a bit low on 1440p, hence the upgrade.

I am enjoying the career mode, Doing Science and levelling up the Tech tree is where it is at....

I haven't got Mech Jeb yet, I find that joy of manually piloting to the mun and back to be quite rewarding, but I have heard good things

I think there is things from both ends, career is good to get into the game without being overwhelmed with part choice, and also to use the variety of parts rather than just the best ones. Then creative is good for challenges, like do an SSTO munar return mission, that shit is tricky.

A Mun trip is a very small part of the experience, and the difficulty is trivial. I'm not sure what the point of the tech tree or career mode is... it's just fluff getting in the way that doesn't actually add anything :scratch: Fortunately they were clever enough to allow you to bypass it :clap:

Sandbox is great - don't get me wrong, but I like the more classic approach of career mode (ie you complete objectives for resources that allow you to progress up the tech tree to do bigger and better things)

Once I have clocked career mode, I will start indulging in Sandbox - I just find that in Sandbox I tend to fuck around, whereas Career mode gives me a little more focus.

Heh, sandbox is the classic approach. The other crap was added to sate the younger members of their fan base. Fair enough though, those young fellas probably have endless hours to waste, and need some filler content :) If you're fucking around, give your self a simple goal, that should suffice (probe on Duna, for example).

I know, I have had KSP since before Career mode, I just found I prefer career - I have never been a massive fan of the Sandbox approach - I just tend to Fuck around

Far Cry 4 is turning out to be tonnes of fun. Right balance of stealth and splodeys for my liking, stealth gets the job done well, but if it goes tits up you still got a chance to just click on heads in most missions. Best sandbox style fps since FC3.

I'm too cheap to buy Far Cry 4 until it's on sale as a "classic" or "platinum" or whatever. (That's how I bought the first 3, and it suits me).

So in the meantime I bought Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon a few days ago. Way cheap on Steam. Lots of fun. Far Cry 3-ish without all the crafting, and very very funny.

But just one thing; when I throw cyber hearts, blood dragons don't seem to take much notice.

Anyone got advice on the correct distance from a blood dragon to throw a heart?

Ears? Open beta for PS4 soon I think, but yeh, I doubt that'll go as well as the PC version; which is great fun if there are enough people online for good fights.

Played one game, no idea what do but had fun; bought the steam version, installing it now.

Yea, he's got a prob where his ears constantly "pop" like high altitude on planes etc he's also suffering from hyperacusis
Neither of which are good for a musician

I haven't gone as far as the Steam version yet, still being cheap w/ the browser based, probably get the Android or iOS ver once they release that
The game's easiest to start in "classic" to get the hang of things (which the info cards help alot) it has limited roles, once you're ready you step into "custom" or "Any" in "Any" mode you don't know what positions exist & werewolves, witches, spys, arsonists, mediums etc get introduced

Medic is a good starter class to grind out some certs, HV45 with reflex is a nice weapon too, rank up the med tool first, and bubble shield for the ability slot, res nades; can't remember what else I run for it, might be nanoweave. All the certy things make a little difference, but not having them doesn't put you at any real disadvantage 1v1.

Yeah, RDS, Foregrip has been my first purchases - makes burst firing alot cleaner

HV45 is one of the best guns in the game IMHO. I play HA most of the time and unlocked the Betelgeuse 54-A a few weeks ago. Have a look for Jezzie on VS if your on. I roll with the trolls....

They have a voip server too I'm pretty sure, more fun to be had joining a outift and using ts3/mumble than putting up with in game comms (mine has had volume well down for over a year now).

Thinking about getting a mic with a cardiologist in it so it'll filter out speaker noise and thus require no headphones.

Wolfenstein Old Blood is the latest addition to my Grandson's and my collection at my place. Not too bad I thought - 4 DVD's to load resulting in great graphics. But I haven't wanted to replay it, so..? Return to Castle Wolfenstein is still my favourite of the series.

That was a great game. The Medal of Honour games of the same era too. Used to do the drunken LAN party thing with my older brother and his friends back then.

Nah, I haven't spent a cent yet. Find its often a bad idea to throw money at a game right away as the devs generaly put shiny bauables for newbs to be tempted by, whereas there is far better value when you have a bit more knowledge.

I've got up to T3 ships, easy enough with no money spent. I'm loving the destroyers so far.

No need for that mate. You'll get the hang of it. Change speeds, swerve left/right in the water, cross the T, avoid 'torpedo alleys' at the start of maps, and learn how to lead your shots.

Pretty much over it now, time to get into a battle is ages, there's fuck all room for individual tactics, and team tactics are just 'zerg this lane'. I had hoped CAs would change it up a bit but playing them is almost worse since you are focused on whole battle developments instead; though the manual bomb release is pretty cool.

Im really enjoying world of warships :eek:

Got up to the Cleveland so far (great ship!!), but Ive been having a friggin HOOT with my beta tester Arkansas!...spent over 7million credits maxing her out with addons etc, add ridiculously high skilled captn...and its an animal!!! lol (And most foolishly think its an easy kill...riiiight up to the point that they get in range lol) - it now has a rediculas fire rate and accuracy (and its built like a brick shit house!...it can take one HELL of a beating)

I do enjoy torping guys who's cuppa takes a while to prepare though. But yeh, even with the destoryers it takes ages for the battle lines to form, storming in often gets you smashed as some plane comes and spots you then that fucking chaingun/shotgun St. Louis goes and knocks a rudder out :mellow:

Fuck that's a lot of hours, especially for an alpha. I've considered buying it a few times, but there are so many survival/crafty/multiplayers in alpha now I'll wait to see what actually makes it out of the gate. I purchased rust ages ago and it's still in dev hell.

One thing I don't like is the amount of hacker fuckwits in such games. Single player should be a thing, like in Space Engineers which is especially useful for seeing new features without the rigmarole of starting from scratch while being ass-fucked by hackers.

Had a great game other day sneaked around back with that Russian thing or the isokaze and torpedoed up a strom in the rear echolons. Sunk 3 in quick succession, would have been more but doesn't it rip your undies when someone gets the last salvo in and claims the sinking!!!!!

Ok so i've just played a few hours of this world of warships game (played world of tanks previously) I've got a tier three ship and I've researched a tier four however it wont let me buy it despite having enough free slots. I've even sold my fully upgraded tier 3 thinking I can only have so many of each nationality and it still wants me to use 300 doubloons!?

Is my only option to get a tier four ship to pay money for this game?

I was selecting "assign to slot" as i thought not assigning it to a slot meant I couldn't use it. Got that sorted now. That tier four ship i bought takes 30 seconds to load, so slow!

The more I play, I'm finding more glitches as I go along. Once I had a deathclaw stuck between rocks (glitch easy kill) so I was very lucky.

Beginning part of the game this happened (pic attached). These guys were glitched and couldn't come down! Later I figured how to create a ladder.

f1 was pretty shyte. (elderscrolls engine iirc)
Never played 2
the engine on f3, as you, i found really glitchy (this from a guy who managed to install it on linux...)
although even not-linux i found it the same. It looks pretty similar to the f4 enginne so ilm wondering what the actual differences are...

Id like to see them collaborate with crytek and hl. THAT would make for sick fucken gameplay.

Also waiting on doom4. Im sensing disappointment. D3 was maaaaaverage on ps.

I don't normally play video games but this one has been keeping me awake til 1am every night. I'm upto level 42 so far and I've JUST got to Diamond City. So many side quests to do and locations to explore...!

Haha I was kidding about Shaun. Just forgot about him for a while doing whole lotta side quests and exploring. There's just so much to discover...! Hidden quests like Chinese submarine man... on my God!

I have been deliberately avoiding main quest lines because I didn't want to rush throug the game. I want to take my time, explore heaps, collect bubbleheads, get those companion perks, build up settlements, level up perks up etc. I have a tendency to get bored/ lose the will to play the game once I finish the main story (like I had with Fallout 3).

I haven't explored with melee yet. I'm currently just going for the standard build i.e. little bit of everything. So far I carry one sniper, one submachine gun and one combat rifle (all modded to hell).

Shaun.... Well he can wait!

Yeah, steam sales aren't what they used to be. Still, I just brought 2 games that have been sitting on my wishlist (just off my active game-dar) for a couple of years both at 75%off so I'm happy for now. Shadow of Mordor and Dark Souls:PTD ed woop woop they should give me plenty of great gameplay hours for $21 all up. :banana::2thumbsup

If there's a daily special on Doom of -50% or more I'll probably grab that also, and perhaps the Fallout 4 addons. There is a limit to how much you can play at any one time tho...

I buy a bit off it, I'm always a few years behind the latest and greatest so it doesn't cost a lot, just finished Crysis, Mass effect 2 and Far Cry 3

Problem I now have is my system is 32 bit so there's stuff I want which I cant play as it requires 64

Dont have a high spec system and I did a recent video card upgrade as I only had a 512mb card up to a 2gig card which made a hell difference

Gimmicky - well, its a gaming Laptop - of course it's gimmicky - but good gawd does it look like Hawtness.

Horses for courses then I guess, seems a bit bulky and inelegant to me anyway. But then I'm not really a fan of the more garish trends like flashy RGB LED lighting on all the shit; I type this on a K95RGB, but that's cos reasons...

I haven't even looked at Steam in ages - Unlocked my first T10 in WoWS though - the Montana.

Had a peek at Dreadnaught - it needs some work before it is ready.

Dreadnought looks like it could be a goer, as does No Man's Sky; also played a bit of Star Citizen the other day, don't know how to play so just found a random to pilot until we exploded. Frames are a bit low in multiplayer, but it progresses nicely.

I buy a bit off it, I'm always a few years behind the latest and greatest so it doesn't cost a lot, just finished Crysis, Mass effect 2 and Far Cry 3

Problem I now have is my system is 32 bit so there's stuff I want which I cant play as it requires 64

Far Cry 3 is pretty up there, best in series, may be best in genre tbh.

Yeah, steam sales aren't what they used to be. Still, I just brought 2 games that have been sitting on my wishlist (just off my active game-dar) for a couple of years both at 75%off so I'm happy for now. Shadow of Mordor and Dark Souls:PTD ed woop woop they should give me plenty of great gameplay hours for $21 all up. :banana::2thumbsup

If there's a daily special on Doom of -50% or more I'll probably grab that also, and perhaps the Fallout 4 addons. There is a limit to how much you can play at any one time tho...

Hade on thing on mine at 50% then found I didn't even want it anymore... Got a couple of 35%rs that have gone under the $20 mark though so might get one or two.

Was hoping Just Cause 3 DLC would have good discounts.

Don't really look at steam sales at the mo, I have most the games I want and my HD 4850 can handle the rest will have to wait for an upgrade.

Liking this war of mine at the mo and playing some old skool with Sven co-op too

Dark Souls is very hard, but stick with it, it's the best game I've ever played. I've just about finished Dark Souls 3.

Now running Clemson (just for fun), Baltimore (just added last night), Montana, Nikolai, Kirov (moored with no captain, lost interest in going higher, weak amour), Kutzhov, Atago, Kagero, Tirpitz

Montana is good but not a great deal more than the Iowa, only because the Iowa is pretty good. And once three or four ships start targeting you at same time that health disappears fast....
It has great AA though.

Yeah - I'm still upgrading my Montana with Modules (just need to get the Rudder shift module next then done) - The extra triple turret I find does help bring the pain, but it still feels second fiddle to the Yamato.

Good Choice on the Atago - she is probably my Fav cruiser (along with the Cleveland) - I've got most of the ARP ships, an Aoba, the Yorck, Lo Yang, New Orleans (soon to be Baltimore) Iowa and Montana (I had to keep the Iowa - she is one of my Fav ships in RL) and the Warspite. I've also unlocked the Mutsuki but haven't bought her yet.

I'm looking at possibly getting the USS Texas as a credit earning ship, but as yet - am undecided.
