40th Anniversary of the original Kawasaki Z1, Commemorative watch. Only 903 made, (guess why?), and Europe had first dibs.

Kawasaki NZ managed to get hold of 10! I got number 180 of 903. Picked it up this morning. Leather case, engraved on the back and individually numbered. Nice watch!

I'm a product of the digital age... can't really tell the time with those watches without counting round the dial, 5... 10... etc

Stopped wearing a watch altogether a few years ago when bikes had clocks, computers, phones etc.

I am a bit of a watch fetishist though unable to indulge to the extent I would like to.

For quality and value and service (sorry Ed, this is waaaaay offtopic, and nice watch by the way) I heartily recommend Christopher Ward. http://www.christopherward.co.uk/

Really?

I saw a watch with garish graphics, numerals that look they belong on a five years olds watch and a strap that looks like it's made of cheese.

Not swiss cheese though.

Yeah, but as it's specific to the Z1 they used those colours from '72.

Fact is that regardless, no-one can buy one now, they are all taken as far as I've heard. I do know where one spare one is, but he's not letting on.

I'm not sure how old you are (not saying I'm old), but there is something juvenile about pulling out your phone to check the time. So much more class having a nice watch, not to mention quicker. I wear one when ever I'm not at work.

I got fed up with buying cheap watches that went through batteries far too often, so got a Seiko Solar, cost me $450.00, (discounted to me of course), :innocent: which, when added up against what I'd spent over the years for watches and batteries was quite cheap.

The Kawasaki Commemorative Z40, I think is a steal, but time will tell.
