Some car has gone into the embankment just past the W Springs onramp and the cops have condordoned off the NW just before the W Springs off ramp.
Sorry (edit) - this is West bound I'm talking about. Into the city is the usual carparking arrangement it always is...
and no Ernie this morning...
I don't think it'll be blocked too long but who knows.

So that's the big deal. It must be more than an accident though, I counted 10 cop cars and wagons go through Newton interchange in 30 seconds.

Yeah...
There's a commodore SW that drove into the embankment LHS of the road just after (50m?) the onramp. Right front crumpled, but not badly. I'd expect anyone in ther walk away - guard not crushed as far as the wheel well.
Cops were circling around on the road (in cars and on foot) looking for stuff on the road I think. I knew summat was up when I saw a cop car driving the wrong way down that side of the MW heading back to his mates down there.
I look forward to hearing what it is or was. Drugs or similar is the only thing that comes to mind - maybe a prison break? Must be pretty important if they cordon off the whole damn MW (all lanes)

Aparently it was a police chase. They were giving updates on George this morning, first spotted the commodore heading down ponsonby road past the George offices at an estimated 120-130kph with three cops in tow, even blasting thru a red at the top of franklin rd. Got on the NW, must have figured the blinding pace of his mighty dunny-dore would blow the cops away . . .
Wishfull thinking I guess. There were reports of up to 10 cops following him by that stage (can russle up 10 cars for a pursuit, but if you phone them for a break-in . . . ), and last report had him taken away in handcuffs, at around 7:45.

I bet he didn't drive into the embankment without help either.
