The End

Ha. That got you to check the thread.
During the shitty Auckland weather today, I had the pleasure of riding through flooded areas with water 1-2 feet deep in some places. As one would expect, water splashed everywhere 'inside' my bike. I took the side fairings off and gave all the electronics a good dry as in some places they were very damp.
My question is, should I invest in some sort of waterproofing system to prevent this happening again? I remember reading somewhere that putting the electrical components inside a condom works well.
Thoughts?

Buy an SUV if you want to do water crossings, or a dirt bike. It's probably not good to be splashing cold water on a hot engine anyway.

Buy a small spray can of "Inox" and carry it in your tool kit, under the seat or where ever you carry tools an such on your bike.
It will instantly displace any moisture and won't do the damage things like CRC can.
BTW,If you run out of gas you can carry a liter of it in a condom but you gott'a run bloody fast because it will only last a few minites before the condom bursts.:msn-wink:

Soldiers operating in wet and sandy environments put a condom over the end of the barrel of their rifle, stops the barrel corroding and stops dirt getting in.
Also they don't have to take it off before firing it, it bursts easily - which is not what you want to hear about a condom.
By the way, INOX is great!

Don't use the things myself
As I live in Japan , the damn things are to small , the picture of a horse on the front doesn't help
If she complains about one there are always two other enterences one can use
Horrible things
The only laugh I got was zipster trying to bed Mrs Biggs and blowing up porterhouse
In. Porterhouse blue ,,,,now that was funny

Go down to your local 'gun shop' and buy a can of "GunDry" - spray that stuff on anything metal you don't want to get wet. Problem solved.
Condoms? Never tried em on a bike (new signature right there). Have used a latex glove on a car though - put over the top of distributor cap, each 'finger' cut off at the top for each of the HT leads. That was a mini though - why they put the dizzy right up behind the front grill.... *sigh*
Want to see what could happen to something hot that gets cooled quickly? Put an empty oven dish in your oven - get it nice and hot. Take it out put it in kitchen sink and turn cold tap on. 9/10 it will break/shatter. Now imagine oven dish is hot bike and cold tap - big puddle :devil2:

Don't worry about it, been riding my bike through rivers, big deep puddles etc constantly for 5 years and have never had any electrical issues yet. The heat from the engine and the wind soon drys everything out.

Does CRC do some damage?? I've been using it all over all sorts of stuff for ages to stop water getting in and to stop rust. What damage am I causing???
