NZ Supercross Series cancelled

the 2 round NZ supercross series has been cancelled due to lack of rider entries, sad to see, but for many reasons the NZ riders do not want to race supercross,

That's sad. Why does no-one want to do it? Back when I MX'ed everyone wanted to have a go....

it was the same when I raced it, you had to qualify to race the night show of the support class,

I don't think everyone can these days?

The jumps are simply out of even a good riders range and they don't want to go out and look like a wally.
There is only a select few that can jump 5 stories High and 100 metres long?

That's always been my take on supercross. I'm not capable of racing the class anyway, but I've often wondered if the main function of supercross is marketing. Looks spectacular, attracts advertising revenue. Is it a good idea to have a class where the first indication that you can't make the required improvement in your game puts you in hospital?

Yeah that could be it, im not sure that I would race SX anymore if I had the chance. The old tracks were pretty easy and safe but to make it good for the top riders the jumps have to be bigger.

Could also be the fact that there is no 'expert' class scotty

I agree totally, but no one listens to me on that one, i know if I had not been able to spend a few years racing expert in MX and SX i would not have got to be a national level rider,

Ok...I went to that international meeting at albany a couple of years ago (spectator....) and that track didn't look that difficult. Are they normally bigger than that these days?

Yes, that is what brought it into being. To make money by putting on a show.

Supercross is a hard game, it and it's offshoots into outdoors tracks have finished a few top careers, and no doubt a few everyday riders as well.

That track was very difficult, and not far off an american track, the NZ Series tracks are much less technical,
