Welcome to the madhouse
The local bike stores are relly good here :-) They'll dish out advise as you buy spares..

I'm not mechanically minded so won't be able to help but there are a lot of them around in Dunners

Enjoy the madness that is KB...

Enjoy the riding around Dunners - It's a great piece of the country, and I miss it still :(

Welcome, there are 3 or 4 other members in Dunners, I'm south a bit more.

You'll find the members of this site opinionated, narrow-minded ranting and (at times) drunk lunatics - they are also helpful and caring when they need to be.

Enjoy the circus.

Next bike rally is at Kaka Point - the Pissed Penguin. Mcivor and Veitch will probably have entry forms, oh, and join B.R.O.N.Z. Otago too, good bunch.

Hi Magg and welcome to KB :wavey:

Watch out for those south island KB boys (especially if you're single!). They're mad, but pretty harmless, like most of us on this site (oh except for Dangerous - watch out he bites)!

Welcome Magg. And a welcome to your MVX. Have not seen one of those in years. They were a bulk, low cost (read dumped) model here because the first release had major seizing problems. They had a fix for the next series, but bad PR meant they did not sell in big numbers. In NZ they sold for around 60% of the cost of a RG250. A lot were sold to first time riders and were written off in large numbers. I was in the trade then and we were offered lots of wrecks for low $$. There are probably a few still sitting in sheds slowly rusting away, so parts will be out there somewhere

;> Its not gonna take that long, i hope, i want to hav everytin done by the end of the year. Maybe i should take a few fotos b4 and a few after the "extreme makeover" lol.
That bloody re-registering will cost me a fortune, grrr... Plus waitin for a better weather (yea, i know, i doesnt really happen in this country..,.,.,,,) to ride it.

I went to vincent in feb 05 and march hare one,. It was awesome. !! Was suppose to go to the brass monkey as well, but the guy 'chicken-ed out' bcos of the snow and cold, etc....So i didnt go.... :oi-grr:

Tryin to organize sum ppl to go to the pissed penguin with, unfortunatelly cant use my bike, so gota go as a pillion, and dont know that many ppl goin there alone (without a partner/passenger).... So dnt know yet bout that one,.,

Vincent was awsome this year, sitting in the river drinking wine and the air temperature hovering around 38 degrees and more..ah, summer!!

Pissed Penguin is on Sept. 3rd and 4th at Wisher Bay Domain, about 3km down the coast from Kaka Point.

And remember kiddies, you have to go by Ches Scumdog to get there.....

Hi Magg,
Welcome to the mad house. :woohoo:
Dunedin can be a great place to ride around. One of my favourites is out through Mosgiel, past Outram up to the pub. I can never remember if it's Ray's or Clark's junction. What happens when one gets old and spends half the time away I guess. Anyway, not bad feeds to be had on the cheap and then the ride home again. On a sunny day it's brilliant. Over to Cromwell or Wanaka is a lot of fun as well.
I've found the guys at Veitches pretty good and wee Kevin at Honda Otago is a tower of knowledge at tricky things.
Good luck with the bike. It was Thunderbirds and Red Arrows in my day. Nothing gives you the understanding and respect of machines, as doing it yourself. Take your time and do it right the first time. Nothing (well almost) is as frustrating as getting the beast up and running only to have to take it down again because you did something half arsed in the hurry to be mobil.
Buells are buetiful
Cheers
Sporty

theres not much to do to it, which surprises me cos no1 really done anythin to it for years, and the bike is almost as old as i am ;> well that was probably the only reason i wanted to have it goin ( i mean it goes well now, but its not registered) 'legally' in summer, cos its a classic bike, and didnt see any1 in dn ridind mvx.

i will post a foto of it soon. the only serious job would be gettin seals for front forks, mirrors, other than that its just cleanin it, addin sum oil , etc...

ive had it for over 2 years now, and it never let me down, so why were they so unreliable....back then....?

They holed pistons quite often, mostly the rear cyl... so be sure to have a colder plug in that pot, a '9' IIRC
Pitty they did this there was a aftermarket piston kit that lasted longer and gave more power.... but even they aventually melted a hole in the top of the pistons.

Ok, i see. I mean i havent been ridin on it too often since i got it, so thats probably why it is still goin well ;> Anyway, would i hear if i had that rear piston holed? A car mechanic took it for a test ride, and says its fine, plus all 3 cyl work properly, so (touch wood) i hope its gona stay this way.

Na you would know if it had a hole in a piston.... no power at all.
Ya have to give them shit before that will happen, dont mean to alarm you BTW awesome bikes I'd love one for blasting the hills.... just be sure you have cold spark plugs in it... #9

thx, will remember that. had the new battery put in lately, probably for the first time since the bike was born, had to get a similar one, cos the original type of the battery is no longer available lol, poor old bike ;> changed spark plugs just to have it goin, but ill change the rear for a cold one for sure.
