Well, not totally, but they've closed the bridge on the west side. I went in this morning from the east. Got almost right to the end to find this. Had to go all the way back out again. Not a bad way to spend the day, but I was getting pretty knackered.

Steel gerders welded across either end. Unless you're feeling particularly strong and enjoy lifting bikes, she's a no go.
The bridge looks no different to how it's been for the last 3 decades, so I'm unsure what's changed.

Probably some numpty's phone doc and told them their bridge is not safe to drive over so they had better sort it or else there will be an accident and someone will be to blame:weird: either that or they only want cylists in there :angry2:
That looks like fun

The bridge has dropped on the Eastern end and it is starting to slide off the Western end. Hopefully the mountain bikers will make some noise (they are the guys everyone seems to be trying to keep happy lately, not those steenky moto cyclist fellas) and a new bridge will be put in :wari:
I reckon, that on a WR 250, if you brace your elbows on the bridge rails you can ride over those bridges they build for pushbikes
Pure speculation of course officer :Police:

with 3 or 4 riders you could lift ya average dual sport over no worries....Steve and supertanker would be quite another story

No worries for those , just ride straight to it ... with all the energy accumulated to move such a bike it will pulverize the gate :chase:

Kinda limits the track to smaller bikers. Stuff lifting a 990 KTM over it. And you wouldnt be able to drag a Opposed twin Beemer under the next one, or lift it over the first one for that matter. ! !

So you're all saying I'll be 'Jonny-no-mates' when I rock up for a ride there then? I forecast it won't be that long until a by-pass is found.
Phil, has the initial portion of the track been cleaned up at all, or is it still a quagmire?

Do you mean the bulldozed bit on the Pahiatua side ? It has dried out but i can imagine it would be shitty in winter. All the rest on the other side is ok. I doubt it will take long with no through traffic before it will get overgrown. I sure hope a fix or go around will be found for it. I will post a couple of pics once I get my internetness back. (have a fault and on go slow)
It wasn't to hard to lift the bikes over, the DR was the heaviest. Colin's WR
Was lightest and Mo's 690 next. Mind you, I had more fuel than them, so if we had had to go back they would have needed that big DR tank:2thumbsup

A couple of pics at the closed bridge. Not a problem if you're on a small bike with a couple of mates ;)

Didn't see that bit ! The bulldozed section was the fastest bit of the whole track.
