View Full Version : Happy Xmas to you all!

I know not all of us celebrate Xmas, I know that for some this is a tough time of year.
For some it is the first one since the loss of a loved one, for some it will be a lonely time.
Some of us will be frustrated by all sorts of things outside of our control.
Some of us will be doing our own thing, and not giving a shit.
This is a place to make your Xmas messages of good cheer and KB  to whoever you want to.
Or make your plea for world peace :puke:
or....

Season's greetings to all.
My New Year's resolution last year was to become a beer snob. That's been one of the best resolutions I've ever made. Still a lot of work to do but craft beer is a great hobby to have -- when one isn't riding motorcycles. Actually, when riding motorcycles other than in Wellington, craft beer is hard to find. And it's better to drink no beer at all than Lion, Tui or any of that overrated, expensive Euro piss.

Indeed. Tonight I greatly enjoyed an Epic Mayhem. Not quite as good as their Zythos, but still a quaff-able beverage nonetheless.

My Christmas wish, apart from wolrd peace and fluffy kittens and cures for all the bad diseases in the world and man can't we just all love each other
is also that everyone here will have a time of peace, reflection and safety on the road - let's all be here well into 2013, infinity and beyond (unless of course the world ends in a couple of days; that would really piss off my son and husband as their leave starts that day)

Xmas is of course a commercialised crock, but family and friends are real. Visiting those we haven't been able to during the year and spending fun time with them means more than any presents ever could.
I do hope all can relax, refresh, have fun and put the horse back in front of the cart over the holiday period. :scooter:

Xmas for me, has never held any reglious connotation's, as a kid, it was about Santa and presents, as an adult though?.........ah what the hell, it still is!
Seriously though...to be able to sit and have a few drinks with friends/family (or sometimes just your spouse) alot of food including Turkey/Cooked ham/Pavlova and fruit etc....that is the meaning of Xmas around here.
Let there be light!!!!!!!

Why celebrate a lie? Why submit to commercialism and put added stress on a family's finances just because you are expected to?
We don't "celebrate" someone's birthday and make a big fuss over the person but we acknowledge it and may tease them over how many they have had. You don't pày attention very well on here or you'd know how ridiculous you are making yourself appear.

Shamelessly stolen from another forum, OSH rules for Xmas
Hi All,
All peoples planning to dash through the snow in a one horse open sleigh, going over the fields and laughing all the way are advised that a Risk Assessment will be required addressing the safety of an open sleigh for members of the public. This assessment must also consider whether it is appropriate to use only one horse for such a venture, particularly where there are multiple passengers.
Please note that permission must also be obtained in writing from landowners before their fields may be entered. To avoid offending those not participating in celebrations, we would request that laughter is moderate only and not loud enough to be considered a noise nuisance.
Benches, stools and orthopaedic chairs are now available for collection by any shepherds planning or required to watch their flocks at night. While provision has also been made for remote monitoring of flocks by CCTV cameras from a centrally heated shepherd observation hut, all users of this facility are reminded that an emergency response plan must be submitted to account for known risks to the flocks.
The angel of the Lord is additionally reminded that, prior to shining his/her glory all around, s/he must confirm that all shepherds are wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment to account for the harmful effects of UVA, UVB and the overwhelming effects of Glory. These include but are not limited to high vis clothing, long sleeves, long pants, safety glasses and a hard hat.
Following last year’s well-publicised case, everyone is advised that Equal Opportunities legislation prohibits any comment with regard to the redness of any part of Mr R Reindeer. Further to this, exclusion of Mr R Reindeer from reindeer games will be considered discriminatory and disciplinary action will be taken against those found guilty of this offence.
While it is acknowledged that gift bearing is a common practice in various parts of the world, particularly the Orient, everyone is reminded that the bearing of gifts is subject to Hospitality Guidelines and all gifts must be registered. This applies regardless of the individual, even royal personages. It is particularly noted that direct gifts of currency or gold are specifically precluded, while caution is advised regarding other common gifts such as aromatic resins that may evoke allergic reactions.
Finally, in the recent instance of the infant found tucked up in a manger without a crib for a bed, CYFS have been advised and will be arriving shortly.
Take care, Merry Christmas to all KiwiBikers, ride hard and stay upright

Giving and receiving at Xmas?...I normally get a $50 alcohol voucher from the shop I work for about this time of year (just before they close for Xmas)
Never really thought about returning the gesture, until this year.
They close for three weeks, reopening the day we go away for two weeks at the beach.
I generally dont have alot of work happening for about a month which is always a concern. This year is different.
A decent job came through which I started yesterday and will allow me to work through at my own pace until it is finished, no pressure!
We have really appreciated the work load from the one shop this year, so I dropped of a bottle of Moet and a box of the Stella..
With the voucher, I bought a bottle of Dows Vintage Port, had to top it up but its worth every drop.
Merry Xmas to those who appreciated this time of year, where to give a little, is to feel gratitude.

I (well, we) have made some Jam for my Father..Anne made and sent some plum jam once to dad, which made him pass a few tears.....aaaawwwwwwwwww
My jam on the other hand, is Craigs Raspberry Jam. Both dad and I love the stuff, but find it a bastard to eat...those pesky seeds getting stuck in your mouth and taking up residence for a few days :(
Anyway, what I do is (Anne showed me this) is to put the raspberry jam into a wire sieve and use a rubber spatula to push the jam through leaving the seeds/pips behind.
I have done this, gift wrapped the jar along with some home made plum jam as they (mum and dad) will be passing through tomorrow.
The Chemist shop got Mothers present sorted...
