:niceone: Heard some pretty negative comments here about Red Baron, just want to say for me personally....great bunch of guys. Nick in Auckland, Owen & Steve in the Mount. Cheers guys, awesome to deal with & no issues whatsoever. Cant see what the fuss was with others here & can only go by my own dealings with them so yea.....Top marks Red Baron :Punk:

''can only go by my own dealings with them''

That is correct, and is the basis of most (if not all) the other negative posts about the Auckland dealership.

Maybe so. I base MY opinion on my personal dealings with both dealerships. I have had no issues at all. So rather than go by hearsay from other members here, i prefer to base my opinion on my dealings with them. Personal opinion....personal choice.....good group of guys

The actual mechanics that do the work there are a top group of fellas. I usually have good experiences when I deal with them.

It's the sales staff and whoever sets up the pricing for the service department that lets em down.

I called them up to ask how much it was to fit a new chain/sprockets. I had all the stuff just needed em fitted. Guy tried telling me it would cost between 200-300$ because it was a "long and hard job".

George from motorcycle doctors came to my house, had it done in under 30 minutes, and charged a whopping 90$ to get it sorted.

Stuff like that is why people bitch about RB Auckers.

Yea all thats fair comment too, Maybe because they werent selling you anything...basically labour only??
Also makes another point about shopping around, i always try 3 or 4 differant places to compare prices.
As for my bike....the work i had done was warranty so duno things may change but as for now, quite happy to deal with the Mounts GP Red Baron or Aucks one.....mainly the Mount due to closer location to me :wings:

Threads like this are potentially Troll Threads.

One of two things can happen:

1. Everybody agrees with the OP, and all is happiness and light in Fairy Land.

2. People disagree with the OP, a shit-fight ensues and there are tears before bedtime.

If scenario 1 happens, the thread can stay in GBR. As soon as scenario 2 ensues, then off to R&R it shall be sent with no dinner or TV for a week.

Thank you all for your careful consideration of your actions and likely consequences.

I'm getting way too old for this.

Fair nuff, been involoved in a couple of the shit fight ones, cant be bothered with it. Stated my opinion & thats it. People may tend to dissagree, thats their opinion. If that happens....shit fight wise...i will start ignoring it as i too can not be bothered with it.

Quick! Hitcher has logged off, so the troll war can now commence...:laugh:

Who cares in the end which bike shop has what said about it? Go by personal experiences, and often just the change of a sales person or service manager can change the atmosphere.

And just as an aside, one of my acquaintances made a comment a while back that he was being poorly treated at all the bike shops he'd been to. He didn't like it when I suggested it may be on account of that chip on his shoulder....

Totally true......pretty sure its the same in any business anywhere....always good & bad stories, just the way of the world. They fixed my bike.....dropped what they were doing to do so & were bloody quick about it...onya guys :niceone:

Managed to have this experience without the shoulder chip. All I wanted to do was buy a new bike. Three North Shore dealers ignored me and after the third attempt I gave up with AMPS (three weeks later and still waiting for the "deal too good to refuse" from them...).
Starting to get a complex about the whole thing or do old people like me just smell funny or summmat? (my present to me for my 60th)

In the end I drove to Wellywood and saw Crasher. Top deal, great service and I got me a free bag! (oh, and the bike's not bad either....). :first:

If more and more people buy gear/parts online ... costs to get work done in any dealership can only increase. Or the the number of dealerships reduced.

Look after the guys that look after you.

If you don't care ... neither will they.

I am sure you had a wonderful experience. Most do when bike under warranty. "yes sir, three bags full sir..."

Whenever I have visited RB their stock was more expensive than other places, the staff were not as knowledgeable on their products and when they suggested an alternative item... oh dear. Not in stock.

Don't know about their workshop... have to admit I have never dared ask them to work on my bike. I have heard too many horror stories... loose chains, forgetting to tighten bolts etc etc

Staff change though, I am sure if you go back in a few weeks all the sales staff will be different.

Agree. Can't personally apply this to motorbike-ing however this rings true in my occupation where I regularly deal with suppliers etc.

That is only true to a point.

I don't mind at all supporting my local dealer. And often do.
But when their price is 400-500 (or more) dearer then what I can pay for the same product from overseas websites and that includes the freight and taxes, then i will draw the line.

The two shops are not connected in any way, any negative stuff has always been directed at ther Auckland shop. There is also a Red Baron in Wellington.

yes you're right it IS your job to care, BUT, what a crock as well

IF you CARE? your customers do 'CARE', they come back for repeat business.
I'll go to my local dealer, (who also happens to be a Red Baron affiliated dealer) first and ask if they can get or provide an item I want... 75% of the time they will get it, and I am prepared to pay the little bit extra above the online retailers BECAUSE I get good service.
