Anyone in Chch have access to a 3D laser scanner, one that will output a file that can be converted to a recognised CAD file type? If you do, please PM me or reply here.
Cheers

You could try contacting ARANZ (Applied Research Association of NZ) - they supplied the 3D laser scanners that they used to scan the full size models for the Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. I'm sure they would be able to point you in the right direction of someone else in Christchurch who has one. They actually make and supply them worldwide, so if they can't help you, you're stuffed!

Contact details:
ARANZ

St Elmo Courts,

Christchurch.

mailto:email@aranz.com

I've just completed an article on the future of 3D computer modelling in NZ and this was one of the companies I featured. The scanning division managing director is Brent Price and he was really helpful.

We got one done for an R6 engine for this year's UoA FSAE car. It took them a while to get it back to us, but 6 odd weeks and 18Mb later, we have a ProE model of the full engine. 'Tis mighty useful to have...
