Just got this emailed through from Steve Bennett. Please note decibel readings before next meet. (Kind regards and all that:shutup:) I have removed bank details etc.. for the forum.
Hi All,
First up, those that attended Tokoroa, thanks for being an enjoyable bunch of people to run a meeting for.
2nd, thanks to the support crew, those that do the timing and those that take the time to get to flag points.
Track opens Saturday at 12 noon. Please sign in before 11:30am.
Use the pre-entry option if you are going to be late,
Sound testing at Round 2 saw readings in excess of 100db, read from the fence on the dummy grid.. not science just a guide OK.
A-Grade 45, 20 and 94 (average around 94, lowest 88)
B-Grade 46, 52 and 12 (average around 92, lowest 70)
We will check again at Taumarunui.
Camping on Friday night is recommend for no other reason than the location. (and the amusement of Henk injuring himself even before racing commences)
$60 entry including timing
$20 One Event Licence (yes that is actually what they cost us, ring MNZ if you don't believe us)

I don't think I'll ever be allowed to forget last years Friday night antics. Having said that, it is an absolute beauty spot and camping Friday night is highly recommended.
If it looks like being as hot as Toke was last weekend bring your swimming trunks for a dip in the river.

My bike is going up there, has a B-grade ride but could also do A for someone else...

Have you tried talking your factory rider into the FXR in Hamilton?
I'm guessing your shoulder won't be up to riding by the sounds of it, not unexpected but we'll need a proxy.

Ha! We are bringing up another "factory rider" (read new to buckets but a pretty good rider) from Wellys with us who, if he goes as well as he did the last couple of days may actually be able to ride in A grade..... ;)
Anyway, if you "go" as well on the Friday night as you did last year then there'll be nothing to worry about! :p

No, I should though.
I've mentioned it to a few others who have been interested and the silly pricks haven't jumped at the bargain that it is!
Surely sold by now?

Hi everyone,
I'm looking forward to the weekend.
Make sure you stick to the speed limit on the main roads. There is no 4km grace down here. Heaps of travellers have been stung so far.
Bring some warm clothes for the evenings, and plenty of insect repellent.
If someone will let me know approx what time you gona be here on Friday, I will go open the track, clubrooms and toilets.
Might even take me bike down for a practice.:woohoo:

How does one find the track from Taumarunui town?
Thanks
As I remember it (Google maps would be better)
Traviling south, drive right through town and out the other side untill you come to the Taupo turnoff on the left. Turn left towards Taupo and about a half click or less you cross a bridge. You can then see the Cart Track over the river on the left. To get to it take the first road on the left, about a quater click past the bridge.
If you get to Taupo you have gone to far, but its a good place to stop for lunch.

No one has broken anything more than bikes, so all is good.

Well Henk if I could go back a day and say that it was only bikes that were hurt, I'd be a bit happier! Hope Str8's wounds heal quickly and well, sorry about my large part in that drama! :weep:
Again, this event was a real credit to the organizers and all involved, great bunch of people, and racing as good as you would ever want to watch or participate in. GPR are very appreciative of a job well done by all involved!

sorry for jinxing today by posting that last night, but Str8 made me. we were laughing about Koba riding her bike today. Other than that, was a good event, and glad I did decide to go in the end (wasn't that keen this morning after the oops), but liked the small field for B grade and only being lapped by one or two riders per race, instead of the whole damned field as per normal.
We're not sure about Manfeild, but will decide closer to the time.
Damn that was a hot weekend, and was sorely tempted to jump in the river at the end, but nah.

Funny, deja vu, heard this story only a couple of weeks ago . . . wait a minute, that was a certain Mr Stroud . . .
Coupla years ago I broke my collarbone into 4 bits, but didn't get it plated. Has some nice lumps and bumps now.
Was self-employed at the time, ended up back at work half way through the second day, when I got sick of the phone calls to sort things out, they couldn't do without me . . .

we did wonder whether yu would turn up again this year. there were less youngsters though and unbelievably less antics from the older folk.
Yes, a big thanks to Mel, thankfully her shoulder is healing well after breaking it at Tokeroa.
Now, anyone got an FXR engine so captian_soup can fix his bike? A petrol tank would be good too, so Mel can get her bike back together for when she's fit to ride.

I have a matte black VT250 tank that will fit an FXR with a bit of a tickle.
It's a different shape but mocked up OK on Str8's bike.

I have fixed his tank, had it ready for him just before the weekend. He was just too lazy to put it on, plus he probably liked the fact that Mels tank was full of petrol and his wasn't.

Good to hear that Str8 is not too badly beaten up - bad enough though
Was really good to put some more names to faces and catch up with people I met at earlier meets
Particularly enjoyed being able to race (cheers Crazy and Liegh )instead of just circulating and making up numbers - nearly did not happen but lucky for me I took a spare clutch which meant I could change my burnt out one on saturday
