Holy Shit! Glad I spotted that

Just thought I should post this in case someone else has not checked their bike over real closely for a while....

Ive got me fairings off me bike at the moment so I thought Id get in there and give it a good clean at some point this weekend. Got to 11 pm tonight, bored, shite on tv so went down the shed and started cleaning away at all the bits that are hard to get to with the fairings on. All going well and I noticed the radiator moving around a little as my arm brushed against it. Taking a closer look to discover the main long bolt that holds it on to the engine mount is missing. Its a long arsed bolt that worked itsself loose some time in the last 12 months....

Its held in place by just the water pipes and 1 small mount on the bottom of the rad. Theres a reason for the big bolt on the top!

If you have not given your bike a good check over for a while, do it!!!!! Im glad I seen it now and didnt discover it whilst riding......most unfortunate potentially!

The CBX550 I had started giving out a high-pitched whine at about 5,000rpm. Took for ever to track down the cause. It turned out that one of the engine mounting bolts had snapped. The noise was the loose end of the bolt vibrating.

Yeah, nah, I've never heard of it. At least not since the FDC (Farking D'Auckland <s>Cunties</s> Council) said I couldn't wash my bike or car (Yes!! I now own a car again, after 12 years or whatever!) because we don't have a driveway eggszachary - just a crossing, so the soapy water plus scum dribbles straight into the gutter, and from thence into the sea. Apparently fish/squids/crustaceans/scuba divers don't like to be clean. Or covered in second-hand road spooge...

I'm having that exact problem with my hornet at the moment, I'll have to make sure to go over it and check for any snapped screws, because that definitely sounds like it could be the cause of the sound.

mate of a workmate had a horrible steering shudder in his bike at 'speed' and had everything checked ..... couldnt locate the problem, had tank off a while later to do some work and discovered one of the parts of the frame was cracked right round under the tank ...... cause of the frontal movement.
