I'm planning a full day ride from the Shore through various parts of the Waikato. Sunday 6th of Januray - weather permitting. Looking to see if anyone else is interested. This should be suitable to learners and 250 riders looking to test their endurance (so long as you can ride at the speed limit), while allowing some space for the bigger bikes to stretch out their legs with a few alternative routes to ease or spice up the ride. I know I'll be giving the CBR a well deserved push through a few corners.

There's a plotted map on Google maps @ http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF&msa=0&msid=208234882365031938493.0004d256680e26e32d6aa

From the Shore it's looking like a 510 km ride.
From Drury it's looking like a 455 km ride.

Currently the summarised plotted path is:
* Smales Farm (Pick-up)
* SH1 toDrury (Pick-up)
* SH1 to Taupiri
* SH1B to Gordonton
* Shoot out to Morrinsville
* Onto Matamata/Hobbiton
* SH27 to Tirau
* SH1 to Putaruru then Tokoroa
* SH30 & SH32 across to Te Kuiti
* SH3 to Otorohanga
* SH39 to Ngaruawahia via Pirongia
* West side of the Waikato River Rangiriri via Huntly
* SH1 to the Bombays (Drop off)
* SH1 to Smales Farm (Drop off)

The plotted path is mostly highway driving for the first half up to Morrinsville, then a few back roads to Matamata (with a main road option available) then back to highways till we get to Tokoroa.
From Tokoroa to Te Kuiti it's a few twists through a sealed road through the edges of the Pureora Forest Park - This bit I haven't gone along in 10 years and looking forward to it. It's great for the more experenced guys to spread out a bit while the learners plod their way along with several places to pull over and re-group.
From Te Kuiti to Otorohanga we're back on the highways, then taking the alternative route north along SH39.
Finally there's skirting the west of the Waikato River up to Rangiriri (where the learners can take SH1 if they prefer).

There's plenty of places to gas up and keep the tanks full, as well as stopping for a drink and a bite to eat.

Thanks again Gents. Oh, and buy Suzuki! Don't have enough power to wheelie and don't have any flash stuff like ABS!

It's not the nose that needs fixing, it's the DAG hanging under his chin!:niceone:

Anyone from last week interested in another ride this weekend? Either day, but probably shorter and much twistier if we can find such a road.

I should be back on two wheels by end of the month. Will be happy to join you then.
