Got A Cuzzie in Wairoa with a 2,000 acre farm  sooooo, Feb the 9th, (Sat) Depart BP Bayview at 8am and head up SH5 to Waitara rd, From there to the Tutira Store on SH2 which is open for fuel at 9.30am (91 available). Nth on SH2 to Raupunga, Turn on to Putere rd, From there to SH38 just before Tuai, back towards Wairoa to the Rangiahua rd then up to the farm. Ive been all over this farm on Chook chasers years ago ( I was brought up there) I havnt been on parts of for a few years so not sure of the track conditions, Its a mix of River flats, rolling and steep but well tracked. It has to be bone dry to get around it so if its not suitable on the day we will turn off on the Ohuka rd on SH38 and go through to SH36 (Part of the last MMMM route) then back to Wairoa, refuel, cafe284 then home.
Not sure how Big bike friendly parts of the the farm are now but that will be part of the adventure.
Approximate distances..
Bayview to Tutira = 90 kms
Tutira to SH38 = 100 kms
SH38 to Farm = 30 kms
Farm to Wairoa = 15 kms
Wairoa to Napier = 118 kms
You will need to carry something to drink and nibble on for lunch.
Cheers

Yeah mate, 8 am at BP Bayview, no point in going earlier cos the the store at Tutira wont be open for fuel till 9.30.
(have orderd an acerbis tank for my 650, even with carrying an extra 5ltrs, Im sick of the bloody short range)
Will have a Transalp along as well at this stage.

Another great days adventure riding in the Bay. 13hrs of Adventure. We lost half the group :gob:, rode some amazing gravel roads, had an absolute blast riding over the farm trails, KTM 690 broke an indicator , DR's were being dropped left right & centre, at one point 2 at the same time , we saw lots of goats and watched a horse clear a gate and out gallop a DR.
Awsome day .... Yo da man Rossco

Looks like it was just as hot as it was up at Taupo, spent the day at PMCC trackday, great value at $60 for full circuit.
So where did you lose half the crew, those backroads west of Raupunga look like a good maze! Farm trail looks interesting, nice shots Marty.

Well, I went back for Johnny and Robin...but, no luck...followed their tracks to Hwy 38...
Not knowing which way they went I went to Waiora...and that turned out to be the wrong way ~
So, I grabbed some lunch and buggered off home:facepalm:
Ross, we will have to try that farm stuff out again...really hate I missed that part.....next time:yes:

Great ride Ross. Many thanks.
My fault sorry, never got off my bike on the bridge when we all stopped. Was just putting my camera away when you guys pulled out. Johnny & Ang waved me on. I went straight ahead but was unsure & saw in rear vision Johnny & Ang go right so I turned around.
Lesson learnt, when unsure JUST STAY PUT.
Thanks Wade for coming back to find us & hence missing out on that fab farm ride. Also Ross & co for your great efforts to find us.
Awesome pics Marty.

Yep it sure was HOT, even where we were, in all that lostness ! LOL.
Would have been good to see if the little DR200 could have barrelled past the lying in rest position DR650s ?:msn-wink::msn-wink:
I was looking forward to the off road hill climbs :crybaby:
Next time eh.

Im sorry too Robin, When I looked back at the bridge, everyone was on their bikes with helmets on so assumed that it was rock and roll time again. There were other factors which caused the seperation as well and have been taken on board. Still blown away by the scenery between Raupunga and Tuai, Awesome shingle road for views.
Will definitly be going back to the farm in the future, possibly April, will leave March for the RRRR then see what the weather is like in April.
Thanks for the pics Marty.

So now I'm not the only one to go AWOL on a group ride who wants the coveted "Pathfinder" badge. Perhaps we need to develop a signature slide for marking corners.
BTW Ross went to Waipatiki beach yesterday and going home from there via the back road to Tongoio offers some great views, perhaps add to homeward bound leg of next ride. Turn off at top of Tongoio hill/devils elbow, end up coming out by the Marae down on the flats.

you can go down the aopauanui beach road for about 8kms then turn into an unlocked gate on the right hand side, which leads you on a trailride
which exits at waipatiki via a creek crossing. good little bush ride, last time i went through there was a log across the trail but thatl certainly be cleared now, there's often signs that its maintained to an extent (self laying track marks, saw cut logs etc)

Might have to check it out. Hopefully going back out there to camp before end of summer, friend and i had great afternoon swimming at the beach on sunday, great spot.
