Went to the Nelson Street race for the first time this year, and what a brilliant street meeting. One of the best Ive ever been to. Well worth the trip down, only wish I had taken a bike to race there!

Huge thanks to everyone involved for an awesome day!! :first:

& to the weather gods for holding the rain off till packup time!!! :not:

There's only 6 of us on the organising committee... armed with a small army of awesome dedicated helpers!!! Over the past few years that I've been involved, I've discovered the ''behind the scenes'' workings of putting on such a massive event is mindboggling! There's an unbelieveable list of T's to be crossed & i's to be dotted.. & rules & regulations that have to be followed to the letter! :mega: Enough to make anyone wonder why do it... but then I discovered.. come the end of race day... all that is irrelevant!! Coz the day is freakin AWESOME!!!!!!! :wings:

We look forward to seeing you all... & more of you... next year!!!!

See our official photographers site for heaps of awesome pics available to purchase!! :Punk:

Was the first time at Nelson for me, really enjoyed the day (apart from some electrical problems making me miss round 2),
only thing that would make it better would be if they run Buckets, the track would be awesome on a bucket, it would help numbers in Pre82 and maybe F3 as well, as most bucket riders have another bike that would fit into those classes as well (just a thought, there's most likely a good reason why they don't run Buckets (f4) now).

Many thanks to the organisers and setup crews, I know what is involved in bringing a days street racing together, roll on Methven

Cheers

I brought one off a photographer, good fella made me look fast :2thumbsup must have photo shopped it eh

Thought I may have seen you up there Neil, there weren't that many faces I knew in F3 and Pre82 to be honest, Phil Denoven and Kevin Orr about it, and the guys on the T500's I recognised them too. Fitting the GSX into F3 and Pre82 gave me enough track time to make the day worthwhile though.

Had a hoot again this year, the GSX survived another meeting, shame about the start to the day but hey shit happens. Found out later on that I should have entered the old GSX in ProTwin instead of F3, would have picked up a third place (there were only 2 other entries)

A great day, many thanks to the organisers and all the people that make it happen, and the weather Gods played their part too.

Good job on the pics, wish my video camera had worked, would have got a cool shot of a guy on a Triumph (or Norton maybe), losing the front on turn 4 about 6 feet in front of me, shit it was quick, he was on his arse in the bink of an eye, luckily I managed to avoid him.

...how did the rest of the day go Muzz..

Muzzab
4th January 2014, 20:22
The day got off to a slow start as a F1 bike split it's oil cooler going into turn one of the first lap in practice and dropped oil through to turn 4, that caused several other bikes to go down and held things up while they cleaned it up, quite a few races had restarts due to red flags and by the end they ran out of time and dropped the laps to 4 for some races and cancelled the last Post Classic and BEARS races so they could run the King of the Port within the time frame.

I wasn't bothered by missing the last Post Classic race, the other 5 races and 2 practices was enough for me for the day. Weather was good. I must have improved a bit during the day as in the first F3 race Jock Woodley lapped me right on the finish line. But that didn't happen in the next two F3 races. So I'm assuming I got faster, as I can't imagine him gettting slower. Never got lapped in Posties either so that a good thing.
F3 and Post Classics races were one after the other so the GSX got really hot, but never missed a beat.

Had a good feed at the prizegiving and few sociables to end off a great day. Will definately be going again next year if I can get all my ducks in a row again.

I really like street racing, the whole day is one big buzz, roll on Methven .

Cheers
