I got one.. itsa okish.. but will only record for 50 mins tops (builtin battery)
The suction mount is quite sticky for what it is, better than most of em to be honest.
You need to buy a class 10 SD for it.. personally, if I did it again, I'd save up and get a second hand contour or gopro. This would make a good second cam for putting in places where it might get damaged, lost etc..
footage filmed using it..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vUB7ruk0zQ (not bad considering alot of it was into the sun)

Thanks, It is certainly cheap enough, question would the suction cup attachment work ok mounted to fairing?
Can't stand them on the helmet.

I had it attached to the tank, and it was fine. It didnt want to stick to my fairing.
It also comes with a "handle bar mount" and a helmet mount.. the helmet mount is a bit useless, but the above footage was taken using it (the helmet mount - a flat piece of plastic with slots for a velcro strap which is provided) mounted on the brake reservoir. I had the handle bar mount on the packrack and was going to move the cam there and film the dudes behind me.. but the battery went flat..

I now have a Replay XD 1080 which ticks all boxes for me.

Yeah - that's a bit of a bugger innit?
I bought the RePlay when they had an introductory offer going so got $100 off. Still took a while to fix the credit card though...
The first camera I bought was a $200 ATC2K. Totally useless. I should have saved up for the good one in the first place.
Isn't hindsight a wonderful thing?

LAst time I looked on trademe the cheapest contour was about 300, and the gopros a little more.. but yes, miles better quality..
https://vimeo.com/49495185 <-- footage from 3 cams. 1x contour on my bike and 2x gopro on the versys (one hero, one hero2)

Yep, me too.. I'm hoping my boss will get some of the new sony sports cameras, with their supposedly amazing anti vibration stuff.. I'll get to try them out on my motorbike and bicycle for a few months to see if they are worth buying for work.

Old Kodak Zx1 for me
275786
Its....Weather proof, takes AA batteries, has an LCD screen, records in 1080 HD @ 30 or 60 fps (I use 60FPS), has a remote control, takes SDHC cards (running a 16g class 10), Has a built in HDMI connection for hooking up to your TV directly(has av as well), and it can run off a 5v power input :2thumbsup
...currently it gives nearly 2 hours of non stop recording!...and if I take the spare recharge batteries...I can get nearly 4 hrs recording on a 16g card! (but it can take upto a 32g HDSC!)
Cost.....ZX1 $50 off tardme, 16g SDHC $24-tardme, Camera mount...made one=free (A "modified" lol spark plug socket that "plugs" into the trippletree)
Total Cost - $74 for all weather 60fps HD recording....a bloody bargin!
...And I never leave home without it!
(currently looking for a fisheye lense for it (magnetic one)...the standard lense angle is a lil bit narrow)

Keep checking mate!...they come up for sale on TM heaps!, they usually sell for under a hundy (I got lucky and scored one for $50-and it was nearly brand new!-unwanted prezzy)
REALLY recomend these as a good "budget" HD camera...Shoots great footage @ 60fps (great for slow-mo and screen shots etc, The sound is...meh!, but I have stuck a small foam plug over the mic hole-so now no wind noise etc...just the lovely whine of gear driven cams and the exhaust note now ;) (mostly cams due to camera location lol)
...happy hunting Tig

I've tossed up whether to grab a camera for a while. I suppose it'll come down to "disposable income" in the end. Looked at this one (OP) but like a few have said, I'll save the pennies and get a decent one. I have a cheapo and the quality is average. I'll mount it on the swing arm or something if I get another.
Will probable end up getting one of these (http://www.liquidimageco.com/pages/mountable). Cheap for what they are and tiny as hell.

That alright for a class 10 at 16gb. In fact, that's bloody good.

The advantage of the HD video cam is that it has a wide angle lens, which not many at this price range have. The XZ1 does not, nor any of the sub-$100 SD (standard def) tiny video cameras.
The HD video cam may not have brilliant video quality and seems prone to flare (if one aims it too high with about 50% sky in the picture, or if the sun is low and strikes it), but it does have a useful LCD screen, comes with the necessary bits for attachment and is 720p.

...very true!
The ZX1 has a narrow lense angle, but I have found a cheap and simple solution for this:
275894
...for less than $20 :2thumbsup
(Its a magnetic fish eye lense, Just glue the "washer" to the lense, then this just clips on & off as required)

For that dollar it's not too bad. Nowhere near GoPro [thanks to 30fps limit] but certainly better than the 30 dollar 640x480 tiny vid cams. You gets what you pays...
I wonder if it's possible to tape a piece of graduated tint across the top half of the lens, as the bright sky seems to overpower the scene in many demo vis so far. Either that or tilt the camera down a little more so there's less sky...

Hi Guys, -
I'm searching for the main Go. Pro thread, but in case it doesn't exist....
I'm in the US LAXing before flying home to another Summer, and am looking to pick up a Go Pro - mainly for use on the ST1300 - will the Black Edition do everything I need?
Or is there a more obvious model I should get? Also I should get a decent memory card too huh
Shafty
Ps I could bring an extra one home for $500.........

Yeah Shafty the black ed gro pro is the dogs bouncy things!
As seen on all hard working TV news programs straight off YouTube these days.
Read that it has a higher frame rate in HD than any of its competitors.
