Hey all,

A big thanks must go to Grant Collingwood of CTAS, www.livetiming.co.nz/Live_Timing.aspx, he's a one man band that empties his pocket to give us free coverage through live streaming. He works his arse off, responds to groans and moans, fixes all as quick as he can and looks after the camera track side with our FREE coverage.

Thanks Grant you rock!

I second that.
I could have done a trip to Christchurch this weekend, but in reality it was awesome to sit in front of the Lap Top coupled up with the TV, and watch the live timing.... and a whole lot cheaper!!!

I will miss next weekend due to my own racing habit, so will be really keen to get a DVD with all the races on it.

For those that don't know, you can buy the races for a VERY reasonable cost from here:
http://www.livetiming.co.nz/Ctas%20Live%20Streaming%20-%20Video%20Coverage.aspx

This weekends racing will be up on Tuesday.
We didn't actually see Jaden Hasan and John Ross have an epic battle in the first 600 race due to poor Internet in the shaky city, so that is a must see...
We saw the numbers on the timing monitor, and that was amazing enough....

Top work Grant, you are awesome!

We forgot to say that.
Yes, it is fun... especially watching Drew trying to swear lol.
And catching up with like minded people all over the country watching the bikes.
Some you can pick, others remain a mistery, but in reality there is only 2 degrees of seperation in this country....

for those listening out in the world it's one thing to enjoy but as a part of the travelling show who has some limited dealings with Grant over the weekend I can only say it is always a pleasure to see his face and hear how he gets pleasure from doing the job he does. This to me isone of the toughest jobs at the track, there's no time to relax and little time to go for a tinkle even so thanks Grant for your hard work, financial investment in what you're doing and cheerfulness.

My first (and it wont be last visit) to the commentary box this weeknd and these guys are awesome........... ive known spyda for as while and know he can talk....... but never met Neil before. What a GREAT man he is just a non-stop verbal attack on the motorcycling ear. And such a nice guy too.
I urge as many of you who can, that might just be able to give a few words of support of information to the commentators or listening crowd to just spend a few minutes in their world.
PS ..its an awesome view too with live timing.

It was good to hear things from your point of view too Merv.
Top job.
I have been up in the commentary box a couple of times, but more as eyes for the commentator.
In my case it was Ray W, and it was for the 3 Hour at Taupo....
While it is easy to sit back and sling stuff at what comes out of the commentators mouths at times, i do appreciate it is a very difficult job..... They can't look everywhere at once. Especially when Jaden Hassan is cutting through the field like a hot knife through butter.

Heck, we used to watch Formula 1 as young fellas just to listen what monumentals Murray Walker would come up with next.....
(Excuse me while I interrupt myself, That car is unique apart from the one behind it which is identical....)

That a side, I am fully keen to be up there to provide facts and figures to their ear when required....
Wanganui was Classic, when Neil and Spyda were trying to work out what the heck Chappy (neil_cb125t) was riding..... Of course there is no way one can keep tabs on what all 180 or so riders are up to this year... Especially Wanganui.

So, yeah, if I'm not busy tinkering with the 250 Production Bike, I am keen to head to the tower and lend a hand if needed.

. for the Nationals I have tried to get a commentators sheet filled out by as many competitors as I can, this includes a bit about mechanics and team members too. My flight schedule for the first round meant a portion of the pits was empty on my first loop, plus as you'd probably guess It takes a long time to do a loop of the pits for me, my mouth does more laps than my legs so I didn't get to every rider there but overall I got a positive response with a few rock stars saying I know enough already, either superbike riders or the 16 year olds....
I'll have more for Levels for others that weren't handed in and these will follow us on all the rounds.
As for Chappies bike, I'd followed a little of it's build here on KB so knew it was an ER6 pony and when we were trying to work it out it was interesting that myself and Neil Ritchie both tuned our ears in on the very next lap to try and hear what it is, the last thing I wanted to do was have an on air cock fight with another commentator as you'd guess.
You can bet that in the future that story will be retold as we recall the history about the bike that was so knew we didn't know about it too
The little boys, and girls; out there need to know they're as important to this sport as the big boys and need to know that the commentary is a much more important tool in their racing these days with the internet etc.
Their sponsor may not be interested in going to the track but they are more likely now to follow the pace with their wireless while they're doing something else.

As for the offer of the 'Hand' in the tower, I'm reading that two ways, am I normal????

All good points Spyda, thanks flr that.
You are right in saying that the young folk are just as important as the superstars...
Heck, they are our next Superstars.

Sponsors can indeed listen in on line... and the other folk listening in on line, can also hear the sponsor if they are spoken about in the commentry.....

As for being normal... you are far from it...
Assistance wouldn't be appropriate either then????
