:sweatdrop:sweatdropBugger me tis hot down here, might not be that hot to you lot up North but bloody hell, theres no where to cool down bar the shower.Spent the afternoon at the river then the balcony at the Maheno tavern looked inviting so tried that for a few pints, was showing 31 degrees out there then arrived home to find 32.6 with a nwester coming up so methinks it wont cool down for awhile. No idea how the Stralians handle there temps,Poor old hairy hound was fine at the river but currently lying in a cool place outside.Called in at the takeaway on the way back from the pub and the bloke reckons its pissing down up the lakes which is only up the road a tad, poor old campers cant take a trick eh:laugh:Mugs game i reckon. What about you lot down south further, you guys cooking?

32 is getting up there alright. I remember the mid 30's regularly as a boy in Ashburton...I was raised my early years inland Queensand where 42 was normal...the sun here, when you're directly exposed makes you feel much hotter despite the 10 degree difference!
Here in the BOP 26-30 is more average thanks to a lovely sea breeze.
Mind them broken bottles n ciggies tossed to the dry roadside grasses aye:woohoo:

36 degrees here today, Spent an hour in the pool.
But Ive spent time in the pool nearly every day for the last 5 months.
Air conditioning is cranking, and I am the proud owner of a fine chilled ale, with a few more chilling in the freezer.

I feel for those poor buggars in sth aussie. The fires look awesome on telly, must be absolutly terrifying to be there. Television doesn't convey the heat, the smell and the smoke. On sunday they predict 50c. Guess 30c over here cant be complained about.

You live in New Zealand therefore you have weather, learn to adjust, air conditioning is for pussies.

The humidity is what really makes the difference. You can have higher temperatures, but if it's dry heat then it doesn't feel as bad.
Tour of USA last year, still 36 degrees at 2am in Las Vegas, daytime temperatures were 42-46 ish. The bike indicated 53 degrees a couple of times when passing through Death Valley, and exposed to 50+ for an hour I could feel myself dehydrating and no longer thinking as straight. Only time I've felt in real danger from conditions when riding.
It's interesting carrying your gear out to the bike at 10am and you've already worked up a sweat

Had stonkin' headaches each night for the first two or three under the same circumstances in the States.
Fixed it by having a giant cup of Dr Pepper each time I gassed-up.
You just don't realise how much moisture gets sucked out of you when riding in tose temperatures...

I could see it, especially in Death Valley. Sweating, wipe it from forehead with your glove and watch your glove turn dry in 5 seconds flat (or less). Of course, just opening your visor felt like sticking your head in a furnace.
Quite a few certainly struggled with dehydration in the evenings, but several were only riding in vests. Gotta stay covered up in such heat even though you want to dress down.

I spent 7 months in East Timor in 2002 with the UN. Regularly 40 plus degrees and I saw 52 on a thermometer once. Could be sitting still doing sentry duty at midnight, still 25 plus and sweat dripping off us. It didn't take too long to get used to the heat but we were always sweating unless we went up into the hills where it was a lot cooler. Could easily drink 6-8 litres of water a day and just sweat it all out but we also did Physical Training at 2 pm a couple of days a week just for fun. Could easily sweat out 1-2 litres in a session.
Got back into Christchurch on the way home and it ws about 6 degrees!!

Thats why I paid good money for a decent lawn mower, so she can start it easier, and its easy to push, and I am lucky enough that I can see most of the lawn from the nice big window in my mancave.:woohoo: No point in having a dog,and then barking yourself.:2thumbsup
