Ok so I have officially delved into chook chaser rebuilding, and being a leap from the old sprotbikes and getting a bit more involved as I usually do I figure I'm bound to have a ton of questions so will put them up here as I go..
I have one motor together (hopefully correct) so question..
1 - just a bit in the dark about the clutch spring preloading values.
It says 23.5 to 25.5 kg but can't find out how that refers to a torque setting anyone can help with a value or a bit of guidance would be much appreciated.
cheers

What vintage is the 2hundy ?
Torque is KG's force and is .98 from memory, there should be plenty of online conversion tables, can't remember whether you divide or multiply, or totally wrong.

Ummm bits of every 80's erra bike I think (mostly looking like an 85 and an 89)
I had a heap of calculators but it doesn't say if it's KGm or KGcm the difference between the two is about 240 Nm!!!!!!
if it's Kgcm then its only 2.4 Nm and my torqu wrench doesn't go that low unfortunately.

1 kg force=1kg X 9.8 = 9.8Nm
23.5Kg X 9.8 =230Nm
sounds alot.

The XR200 has only ever come out with 2 engines a 2 valve SOHC and a 4 valve RFVC twin carb model which was built for 2yrs 84-85.
Clutch springs have you measured them for length this can have an affect on how they perform.

signed up and question answered... cheers.
As ktm84mxc said its a measured length apparently preload is about 0.5" but will have a play around and see what happens:crazy:

I think white framed ones where in the 90,s not the 80s
The prolink ones came out eraly 81 as i was around then though
Brought roadbikes allways liked them.
The had brief fling with two carb 4 valve model not good design.
then back to the 2 valve engine , which bottom end can be traced
back to eraly xl 100 k2 same design , the just put spacers when went from twin craddle frames to modern open design
