I,m wanting to replace my rear sprocket back to stock, its a 48 tooth and stock is 52.
My question is do I have to replace the front sprocket and chain as well,I know ideally
its preferable to do so but is it absolutely neccessary.....I,m on a tight budget...
P.S. I know that the chain thats on will fit ,there,s plenty of adjustment.

i say no.

other people say yes.

other people will tell you to replace a chain and two sprockets all at the same time.

As long as the chain isn't too worn replacing just the sprocket will be fine. Its recommended to change them all at once because a worn part will wear out the new part quicker, so it stands to reason if none of your parts are too worn, you only need to replace one.
