Hi guys.

First time posting on this forum. spend most of my garage time working on my 4wds and on the 4wd forum, offroadexpress. Iv just bought a 1990 zxr 250 after selling my vtr 250 2 years ago to help fund a project.

I bought the bike at the weekend, it has been sitting for a few months as the owner is currently on his OE and his younger brother didnt seem to know much about it. Picked it up cheap as it has no wof or reg and because of the clutch issue. I took it for a ride before i bought it to check for knocks rattles ect ect and all was good expect for the clutch slip.
When i got it home (about 45mins) on the back of the ute the clutch had nearly completely gone...
There was an oil leak from the magneto case so after draining the oil (which looked very new) i redid the seal before pulling it back together. Now....
The clutch seems/is slipping really badly as in you get minimal drive when you let the clutch out a little but as soon as you try take off there is nothing and any kind of incline there is nothing but revving. Pulled the clutch out and took one of the fiber plates to cycletread as i wasnt sure if it was worn or not. one of the guys there said the plate looked good so to try loosen the clutch cable off and see if that does anything. im not going to get to work on it tonight (Red Hot Chilli Peppers) so will have a look tomorrow. Main question is there anything else that could be causing it to slip as badly as it is.

cheers
Andrew
