Anyone know this biker fleeing Police today http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/8184532/Fleeing-rider-reaches-140kmh-police
I saw this bike on Highway 58 over the holidays - no obvious signs of a number plate when in front of me so a bit of a racer on the road going :bleh: to the cops.

Senior Sergeant Steve Harwood said the motorcyclist fled police after he or she was signalled to stop near Porirua.
Staff have cordons in place in Wainuiomata as they search for the man.
LOL, it could be a girl 'ya know! Sounds like a change of colour in his/her fairings and leathers is in order....? Alpinestars by the looks, nice.

Seems to be very close to that curb maybe track exp bit silly speeding like that in 50 kph area chould easily kill child or adult if they waked out in front, whouldint like to have that on me
karma isint good . leave it to the track day if you want to go fast only place u should

Me thinks someone has something to say about the GN? :) Or is that just what traffic is like up there? Rush hour here means an extra 10 whole minutes in the car!
Back the the OP, I think a quick riding gear change and a call to the insurance company and the cops to report a 'stolen' bike, I think! (And hope there are no incriminating pics of you in your old gear!
Technology is really making the quick dash from the coppers hard. Has he taken his number plate off? They got a good pic of him side on, so I would assume they grabbed that from some footage?

definately a track bike I'd say :)
seems like he must know how to ride it a little too.
Just because it was a 50km/hr zone doesn't necessarily mean it was overly dangerous! It might have been a very open road with no traffic and no pedestrians! But yes still against the law!
A speeding bike at 140km/hr is nowhere near as dangerous as a car weighing 7 times more doing 50km/hr! The car still has double the energy and a far larger frontal footprint (read as more likely to hit something!)

Hey! don't ruin a good 'darn those bikies' news -whine- (oops, I mean story).
Yeah, context is important, but at the same time perhaps the track would have been a better place for doing that? :innocent:

Nah, it is the roundabout at the bottom of the Wainui hill, not that hard to cut very close. Still a dick though

Hmmmm looks like new tactics taking photos, been wondering for awhile when they would do this. They've already been taking pictures of trucks for ages.
Lol at the second gear comments, of course what police report the offender was doing and the real speeds were can be a different story... because whatever the offender is doing then an SV6 commodore has to be doing the same or sharper to be keeping up...
Recent court case in paper here was interesting. A STATIONARY patrol car clocked an oncoming WRX at 175kph (open road, rural) then turned and chased, they stated the offender then ACCELERATED more... so what was the SV6 doing to catch up hmmmmmmmmm
I'm all for the cops catching crims and thieves and anyone who makes the choice to run for whatever reason but I don't know why they pander to the public opinion debate and abandon pursuits. A young lad who was in stolen car came past our place several minutes after pursuit was abandoned. Car was doing u-turn outside our place so he just went fullnoise, wrong side of road and traffic islands around a blind right hand corner in 50kph zone. Later in the day he was spotted again, pursued and crashed. Just goes to show nothing changes when abandoned...
Hope that SRAD wasn't someones stolen pride n joy... don't think there's much demand though, burglars left mine behind and took my mountainbike and socket set and el cheapo compressor... one can never understand the mind of crim LOL

There's only one road in & out of Wainuiomata unless the squid's prepared to ride over the firebreaks and they're not much fun after a bit of rain.

Go round the coast. I've done it... :niceone:
Firebreaks are teh shizz in all weather, probably not on the SRAD
Or, go through the Whakanui tack (Sunny grove) then over the Papatahi crossing. (done that, not on an SRAD though)

Considering they can do low 11 second runs down the 1/4 mile standard (with a good rider), not many road cars can keep up in a straight line. Certainly not a V6 Commodore.

Why oh why is something that has been happening for as long as we have had motor vehicles getting more police and press attention than proper crimes that are committed with malice (as opposed to mischievousness)?
More unjustified waste of focus and resources courtesy of PC shit stirring to no good effect. Halve the amount of resources and direct it at education/culture change. Much more effective and less debilitating/restrictive for the more responsible community members.

Yup - granted it was a dick move on the part of the rider, and likely someone will have seen that bike cruising around lately, and will ring in to help pin point the riders location, but what if they put this much effort into finding those committing other, serious offences?

I mentioned at the start of this thread I saw this rider over the holidays and I forgot to mention the other misdemeanour as a real rebel was the behaviour at the Haywards/Hutt Motorway end - we approach the traffic light intersection, I'm behind so get a good view and clearly see there is no number plate to be seen, the lights are red and the cross traffic is quite busy. One quick glance and this rider just went straight through the red lights hanging a right onto the motorway - perhaps on the way to Wainui - maybe that's a regular ride for this person. Never got hit at the intersection so must have good judgement eh .

Yeah .. but remember when we had traffic cops? Police handled police stuff and traffic cops handled road stuff and no-one complained about road stuff wasting police time ...
If we took out some police and made them traffic cops again then no-one would complain about road stuff wasting police time ...
