BRM Summer series Round 1 #94 Pro Twin
We headed to Manfield on Friday night instead of early Saturday morning which made a big difference to the weekend by not being so tired. Saturday was a practice/track day and turned out to be hot and sunny, perfect conditions like this are rare for Manfield.
We were given loads of track time throughout the day giving us plenty of awesome battles between the group of 650’s in our shed. It was cool to get a couple of guy out onto the track for the first time, one of them being Greg from Neptune Motorcycle Mufflers, our newest sponsor and Dirk a work mate of Dads out on our bikes. The two of them seemed to have had a great time and I enjoyed seeing my bike out on the track.
Race day, the weather wasn’t so nice early in the morning after a little rain overnight. By the time qualify had come around the sky had cleared up quite well so I went straight out to set a good lap time. I was feeling fast and confident until Zane came flying past as he does and took off away from me. This left me feeling a little less confident. Fortunately, I made tenth on the grid with Lodge right behind in eleventh not even .2 of a second slower.
Each race ran the same for me each time, I got a great start and pulled through turn one with the front pack but then slowly dropped back. Lodge and I battled it out in all three races with very close passes and lap times. Lodge managed to get in front and stay in front in all three races regardless of how hard I pushed to get back in front. I finished 3rd in Neptune Motorcycle Mufflers Pro Twins for each race and 3rd for the day.
What an awesome weekend of round one, Bring on round two at Taupo!!
