Hi everybody!

I need new tyres for my Suzuki FXR150. I've been reading a lot about it (very good info on this forum), but I can't find a suitable set of tyres...
I use the bike for touring on the great NZ roads, and I never go faster than 100km/h. I may need to drive on rain, cold days, hot days...

Factory tyre size is:
F: 80/90-17
R: 100/90-17

I was thinking about upgrading to this size (because it is easier to find on market. I know bigger tyres is not better):
F: 90/80-17
R: 110/80-17

Well... The only brands with this sizes I found are Michelin Pilot Sporty, which I discard because is not a good tyre on wet or cold days (it needs to warm up to have good grip), and Continental ContiGo, which looks like a scooter tyre :-( , and I can't find any review about it.

Another option is to put Pirelli Sport Demon on rear and Pirelli MT75 on front (no Demon size for front tyre). But I'm not sure if this is a good choice...

There are other brands like IRC, Schinco, but I prefer to well-known brands.
I will appreciate your help!, I need to change tyres urgently.

Thanks!
Victor

Going up one size is not normally an issue unless it touches something eg a hugger. A MT75 will be ok for the intended use, another group to ask are the bucket racers as they love the FXR's.

Bridgestone BT-39. Your only logical choice.

Thanks for the answers.

Yes, I like Bridgestone, but they don't have such small sizes... Smallest rear is 130/70-17, and I think is too big for my bike.

I'll ask bucket racers as suggested.

Thanks!.

I never used BT-39's myself, converted the bike straight over to slicks, so didnt realise the sizes dont work. Shit loads of people do run them

Hi!,

finally, after some trouble with Cycletreads, I got the tyres.

I intended to buy:
F: Pirelli MT75 90/80-17
R: Pirelli Sport Demon 110/80-17

I got a MT75 front, but they also shipped a Sport Demon front!!!!!. So, after some phone calls, emails, and so on, they offered me to replace the Sport Demon for a Bridgestone BT-45.

It's too soon to write a review, but here it goes my point of view:

Pirelli MT-75: Brazilian made... Very poor construction quality. It has a touring pattern, it is what I was looking for.

Bridgestone BT-45: Japan made!!. Touring pattern, I like that too. But I could not get the size I was looking for, so had to put 110/90-17. Quite bigger, but it looks fine. And also engine runs at lower RPM at same speed.

Now I hope to feel more confident taking corners!.

PS: I was very lucky to read this forum... I almost buy Pilot Sportys...

A bit late but I'd recommend a BT39 front and BT45 Rear.
The BT45 is great for a road bike as it has a hard strip up the middle.
Sport demons are good tyres but square off relatively quick if used for commuting.

I rode the Mrs' standard FXR with a BT39/45 combination and came 9th in the GP one year. (can't remember which)
