Is it a MCC 'have a go day? if so then just rock up with some zip ties and tape, choose a class a,b,c (no passing, passing on straights, open slander full leathers I would expect pay and play.

You can also do similer with the CAMs meets if your bike fits there classes, but leathers must zip togeather, back protector required and the bike needs catch bottle and tie wireing, new riders race with pre63 bikes and dont forget its a flag drop so you need to know the flags, protorcole etc and a MNZ day licence required.

Not sure what sort of have a go day it is.
Yes i want too join the cams and race next year maybe. Not too serious racing, more for fun and thrill myself.
Which is why i bought this 89fzr 1000 to fit in the pre 89 class. I have full leathers. (never used them though) But i have never been on the track and would like too try before i race.

Probably pay to invest in a back protector.

Just jump on the Motorcycling Canterbury website and download the entry form, it will tell all you need to know.

Tip for ontrack safety for everyone, change your antifreeze for a non glycol based one like sikolene, if you lose a coolant hose, puncture the radiator, have a boilover, the glycol based antifreeze causes crashes as it acts as a lubricant. One of the reasons for catch bottles and enclosed belly pans.

There is an info sheet stapled to the sign up sheet.

At the minimum you would want your bike reliable (thats been an issue for me in the past :( ), with reasonably new oil and you want tyres you can be confident in, and you want to have spent some time looking it over and checking stuff. Things like your brake caliper bolts and axle nuts and stuff. Its a zen ritual and good for your mental health.

If yours is a race bike then catch bottles and lockwiring and whatnot and ziptie-ing, and it won't have a sidestand so thats straightforward enough. If it is a road bike then put tape over the speedo and mirrors, ziptie up the stand and give it the checkover.

Protips. Ruapuna gets every fucking wind in creation. it can be hot and dusty. or freezing fucking cold. Bring lots of clothes and sunhats and shit. I always bring a comfy chair to sit in between sessions and I always ditch my leathers between sessions too. I bring a bunch of tools and stuff, and a cooler with drinks and lunch and stuff as well. And a book to read. Try and get there early-ish because there is a bit of faffing about and queuing for signup, gear scrutineering and bike scrutineering.

Make sure you have petrol in the tank or in a jerrycan if bringing a trailer.

its good fun. I am looking forward to my first proper trackday in over a year. I am not counting the October rider training day in the pissing rain....

bollocks: go to mci.net.nz then > entry forms (tab on the LHS) then you can download two pdfs: one is the entry form, the other is the prep sheet.
