Crash repair in Auckland for 2009 Fireblade?

I've unfortunately left my brain at home when going for a ride a few days ago and crashed my bike. I'm ok, but my 09 Fireblade isn't too good. Broke the throttle, brake lever, mirror and damaged to exhaust pipe and crank case and scratches on fairings. Does anyone have know a crash repairer that they'll recommend?

Need someone to help fix the throttle etc and check that the integrity of the bike is still ok. I am at the moment working out what I can do myself - replacing the mirror is not a big deal. Not sure if I should replace the fairings or get it repainted... depending on cost of course. The exhaust pipe may have to be replaced with after market ones. The scratched crank case... hmm...

Ideally I want the bike looking immaculate - like new - but we'll see.

Highly recommend you talk to Mark at Kolorin Kustoms in Glenfield. I have had fairings resprayed by him and he does a top job. He might also be able to help you out with your other issues.

You could also use these guys RaceRevolution (http://www.raceevolution.co.nz/16/parttpl/shopproduct_details/6444). I have no idea what the quality is like but it looks quite good.

The crank case is usually bolt on and easy to replace and if the exhaust is stock you might as well upgrade it with a good aftermarket slipon :yes:

Wondering how much did it cost you to have your fairings resprayed? I'm considering getting that done. As with the crank case, I'll try using quiksteel, have heard people raving about the product.

You could buy the throttle and assorted bits of eGay from the states

If the crank case cover isn't cracked, fill the gouges with metal putty and re-spray 'em.
Take the fairings to the bunch mentioned below, or get a new set

I've got third party insurance. But it's not really relevant here though.

Get a price for new fairings and a price for a repaired resprayed joby, and include a price for the transfer if required. When I needed to repair one side of a CBR600 there was not much difference and opted for new ones. The grahics alone were $375. Fortunately the latesest CBRs do not have much graphics.

+1 to this. I have done this before (imported Chinese replicas). I would describe the quality as a bit average, but looked fine.

Depending on how had the scrapes are on the crank case, something I have done before is to take it into an engineer and just have them polish it. Cost about $30 last time I had some minor marks polished out.

ps. I just spotted your in Auckland. I used Brugar Engineering in Barry's Point Road in Takapuna for removing minor marks from metal. They can also do aluminium welding.

What you’ve described sounds like cosmetic damage only.

For parts try Tony Rees Motorcycles. He may have stripped a bike down to race and have the road gear up for sale. If he doesn't have any leads then head to Ebay. You can bling it better than new for about $1.7k or less than half that buying a mix of new and good condition second hand panels and parts. If you're not up for the install then you could buy parts and try George at Motorcycle Doctors.

Oh, and if the right clip-on looks out then before tearing out and buying a new one crack the triples and recheck. It could just be a twisted fork in the triple not a bent clip-on.

Top guy, I'll recommend him any day. Just as a side note, I've rang up a few bigger dealers / workshops in Auckland, and a few of them don't seem to be very interested. Disappointing customer service.

I've ordered most oem parts from mrcycles.com. Thanks SPP for those links, I'm looking at getting a yoshimura r77 - mummy looks good. And exploring the fairings options now.

George is by far and away the most professional mechanic I've ever dealt with - cage or bike. All the bike shops have been utter shit service. Over the years I've tried Red Baron, Cyclespot and Colemans for work and never been happy.

I'd say the dealers will only be interested if it's an insurance job and they can cream it parts and labour.

Good luck getting parts etc. Check out these two places.. Not sure if they ship to NZ or what the cost would be but I'm guessing it'll be a load cheaper than from a dealer here.

Get the parts and do it yourself. New crankcase cover for the right hand side is about $100USD iirc.
