I really want to stay in southland for a few more years really, until the house is a wee bit more under control at least. A couple of the trucking firms around here are only paying $16.50 phr, wtf, I was earning more than that 20yrs ago.

Sound ideal for IT. Repeat after me "Have you tried switching it off and on again?" Once you can say this with confidence, you'll be able to do 90% of IT work.

Maybe print up a flyer about property maintenance etc, run off 100 or so and do a mail drop.

Just make sure you get someone else to quote the customers and do not interact with them in any way and it'll be sweet as.

I think your spelling is very good, definitely way above average (at least kiwibiker average) with only one error ("morTgage") in a multiline post.
Well done. Good luck with the job search
