Hey KB,
because I am a new rider my mate is insisting I do the Cold Kiwi Rally this year.
Is this some kind of tradition that you have to go to a rally in your first year riding?
if I have to go, is it worth it? any stories or experiences worth note?
I have to say though I do like a Beer and a Band. :Punk: So Im thinking that I might go anyway. :woohoo:

What happens on the road stays on the road.
There's only one way to find out some things.

I went to one in 1983 it was a real hoot, since then I haven't missed one so that tells me it's gotta be great.
It's survived 38 years as an event so must be something there that makes it work after all, other have been and gon ein that time

Been going for the last 9 years, first as a pillion then on my own bike.
As said by other poster, don't take our word for it... But it definitely is worth it.
And it gets better as you get to know peeps there, so every year, tis like catching up with folks you only get to see once a year.

hmmm I'm pretty avg at egg cooking, or cooking in general. But just FYI I like my eggs poached.
Anyway I still don't understand what happens at this rally thing.

hundreds of people dressed in leather sway in front of bonfires pissed with bellies full of hotdogs n premix at night....during the day you get to check out events, other peoples bikes and generally have fun. If you are lucky it snows.

Well you certainly wont be stopping on the side of the road to change tires :bleh:
If you ride in snow, just go slow. It's just like gravel, except entirely different. :shifty:

It's not much further than the 'Naki ...
Perhaps you should read the (un-written) rules of the first-time Rally goer ... :shifty:
There will be a few going that will look out for you. You seem able to keep a reasonable speed on the road. Even if you are a little slower ... it wont take long to catch up when they stop.
