As a parent, I am of course conscious it is my responsibility to monitor what my children see on there, and I monitor very closely indeed.

But not everyone takes it seriously. I see for example my 14 and 16 year old nephews watching and giggling at people smacking the crap out of each other with baseball bats and I know they've had access to stuff like that for years.

When hurting another human being becomes a matter of hilarity, to me that is crossing a line and dissociating yourself from the safe "right and wrong" moral pattern.

1) Self Flagellation is used by Catholics, arguably rather different to mainstream Christianity. It is in no way "part of normal culture".

2) I would love you to point to documented cases of Knights eating Moslems as part of their "normal culture". There may have been isolated incidents, but I think that you'll be hard pressed to show it as part of a social norm. Also, you may find that the reports of cannibalism came during times of famine, when the people were starving and there was little food around. hence the eating of the bodies of the defeated. History is full of cases like this, not just of Christians either. FFS...you don't have to look hard for evidence of the Maori eating their enemies...

3)I am NOT saying that what happened in the Crusades wasn't horrendous, it was. However, Moslems in the name of Islam where carrying out this type of violence long before the Crusades, but then arguably so was the Church (again, predominantly Roman Catholic at this point in time). However, the Moslems were complicit in starting the wars of the Crusades and had oppressed many other "pagan" nations prior.

I understand that sudden exposure to uncensored reality can feel overwhelming. I know you don’t mean any harm and just feel genuinely offended and want to prevent other people from feeling the same. I do find it funny how some people react to the world when shit gets real. Like I remember being at a rally event once and an old starlet comes around the corner, loses it and end for ends through some tree stumps. My mum kinda stood there looking to me for how to react to what just happened. I don't think she had actually seen a bad accident unfold like that 30 feet away before. The guy turned out to be alright if a little knocked around when I wandered over to make sure the kill switch was pulled but the reaction was was interesting. I'm normally cool as a cucumber when things like that happen but I've seen people scream, run in circles or literally drive off to avoid seeing anything.

At least the citizens in the USA have basic human rights. In Saudi Arabia, for example, it's illegal for non Muslims to enter the city of Mecca. It's also illegal to practice any religion other than Islam. In Pakistan, there mere accusation of blasphemy is often enough to legally warrant the death penalty.
