I'm sure heaps of Sydney riders already filter at lights. I guess at least now they will be able to do it legally.

You don't realise how much you miss being able to go to the front at traffic lights till you can't.
It removes much of the attraction of riding a bike in the city. Like thats a good move DUH!
Qld. Sigh.
The ban only came in while I was living in NZ.

Mate have you been to Rome? The way the scooters and motorcycles take control at the front of the traffic light queues there is just a joy to see. So why isn't that OK in Brissie?

the practice will be permitted in some inner Sydney streets during a two-month trial to see whether it can safely help ease congestion.
I'd love to see that happening.

No - I haven't - but I've been to most big Asian cities and it's the same deal.
Why? Because somebody doesn't like it.

I posted you some Rome pics back in 2009 when I went there - pics on this page http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php/92084-carver-s-new-ride!/page2. The stoplight drags just looked so much fun - can't do that if you don't filter.
