How have you celebrated our National Day?

For me it involved a sleep in. A blessed sleep in until MY body clock decided to get out of the sack :innocent:

My lovely man cooked me eggs :blip: and bacon with some yummy tomato on the side

Digesting that involved a walk out on the beach for 45 mins. Glorious, glorious day!

Bought some fruit on the way home. One of my fav things to do is make jam for my wonderful Father in Law. Today I decided on Apricot and Plum (his fav), both on their own, not together, though I have not trialled that combination

I made jam.

Now there is a leg of sheep roasting on the BBQ, which will hopefully taste ok when it is cooked. Spuds, Kumera, Pumpkin, and Cauli/Brocoli cheese on standby to add soon

I rang my lovely old lady as a St John caring caller earlier, I was the first person she had spoken too all day :wari:

What a wonderful way to spend a day.

Happy Waitangi Day you guys!

Playing around 100kms on the way up and 120 on the way back.
Finding how bike handles corners I already know well.
So far "out of sight.

A loop into the North, round Opononi and Kaikohe, Waipoua Forest and Twin Bridges.

Another 730km on the bike's odo, have to do some 1300km more to get her up to service interval, in prep for a trip south...

Wondered if the north roads would be affected by Waitangi stuff, but nope, pretty damn quiet :wings:

My day started early as per normal, had cereal with left over stewed fruit from the night before. Made Bacon/eggs and tomatos on muffins outside on the B-B-Q at 10am.
We went for a nice long walk at Omaha Beach. Had a small pizza at the Bridgehouse for lunch. Treated to the lovely smell of apricots/plums cooking on the stove during the warm sunny afternoon...
Roast lamb for tea with Ice cream and fruit to follow...

Thanks Treaty signatories.
I vote to Monday-ise Waitangi Day.

YUM! I planted a fig tree last year, we got 1 fig off it  and my rhubarb is well established. Maybe next year there will be a few more figs so I can try that.

Did a bit of preparation on the roof to paint it over the next couple of days - and cleaned out the gutters ...

Tne I went surf casting - and in good kiwi fashion caught bugger all ... still sitting on a beach doing nothing is a very good way to spend a holiday ...

Yesterday was more of a work day than a holiday. Allbeit home-work. Still unpacking and organising after a recent house move.

No, totally different area. We're in Tuakau now.

Only a couple of steps to the front door.
