We've just got hold of LooseBruce and it wasn't anyone on their ride. Also got hold of the litre boys who were doing a ride out that way and they're all OK.

My thoughts are for the motorcyclist and those in the car but why do they assume that "A motorcyclist has collided with a car" rather than a "car has collided with a motorcyclist." It is just a state of mind in this country. Very sad, John.

Hey K.K - so sorry to hear another kb'er has to feel the pain of the death of a loved one. I know it probably doesn't mean much - but take strength from all who offer support. It does get better with time - wont feel like it today, next week, next month - but believe me it does. Your stepdad is in good hands - my stepdad (died in April, crashed at racetrack) will show him around, and they can sit and talk bike stories all night long.

Love and hugs to you and your family. Make sure you take care of mum - she needs all the hugs she can get - maybe not straight away, but it will come.

PM me if ya want. Happy to talk more with ya.

Take care

This is really tragic.
My wife and I did the loop in the cage, we stayed at Whitianga Sat night.
I saw a couple of groups of bikes and thought to myself, "lucky buggers, hope they have a ball". Who could imagine one of them would soon be dead?
I hope you and your family all find the strength to cope with this terrible loss Logan.

*signature*It is better to have ridden & crashed than never to have ridden at all

Hey guys, thanks once again for all the offerings of support etc.

Just thought id quote Bruce's signature, its whats keeping me positive, he loved to ride, he would be the last person to ever try and prove anything to anyone on a bike, was the sort of rider to just go for a sunny sunday cruise, i guess thats why its so hard to swallow, however he did know the risks, even in riding sensibly, and passed away doing what he loved doing.

loved 'ya Bruce, and am thankful for the time in your life you spent with me.

Logan, I don't know what to say. I had ridden a couple of times with Bruce, most recently a couple of weeks ago when we went up north. On that occasion I remember we were chatting at the service station before leaving and he spoke very highly of you. He impressed me with his commonsense, compassion and cheerfulness. All I can say is that, tragic though the accident was, he would probably have wished to go no other way.
My heartfelt condolences.

I cannot put it better. My condolences to friends and family in these tough times - take comfort in that you are better for having been able to share a part of your life with someone who from all accounts appears to have been a great man.

After a few days of intermittant KB usage, coming online to see another thread like this really sucks. Every time I see a thread like this I have to consider what my own relatives/people I know would think if this was me. I can only feebly imagine what Bruces relatives and friends are going though...

Things like this put you in your place - no one is immortal.

Hails to KK and everyone else affected.

Did that "Fallen Riders" page ever get off the ground - I recall there was a lot of discussion about a few months ago.Was thinking that today, as the loss of Bruce reminded me of the KB'ers that have passed away:bye:

He was a great guy, meet him at my dad's (paul richardson) barbecues and was always keen to talk bikes. Never got to meet you Logan, but heard plenty about your racing through him. My condolences to you, your brothers and your mother.

Hi Logan, Paul Richardson here. Maryanne and I offer our sympathies to you all. A great mate, Best Man at our wedding and I was a witness at his and your Mum's wedding. Many a night spent at our place or theirs, setting the world to rights with a little lubrication.

Give you Mum our love, we will be there whenever she needs us.

PS: RIP Bruce, ride free.

Hi all

This is a message to pass onto Bronwyn, Bruce's wife. We cannot know how you are feeling at the moment but are hearts and thoughts are with you. We will never forget the good times with you guys around at our place or yours or that he was there as Paul's best man and the day of your own wedding. You had a beautiful relationship that we saw grow and grow. We are both gutted and do not know what to do for the best. There have been many tears already. Bruce was always our rock and he was always there for Paul.

We will be there for you all when you need us.

Love and God Bless

My condolences to KK and your family. This is very sad news. Like some of the others I have only met Bruce a couple of times. He certainly was a great guy and will be sadly missed. It is hard to believe that after saying Hi to him on Sunday at Bombay that he has now passed on. I hope the support from the KB people helps ease the pain you guys are feeling.

Rest in Peace Bruce

Condolences Logan, and to the rest of your family too.

Everything has been articulated by others better than I could do, so I'll "ditto" all their comments.

Good to read you taking the positive attitude through all this, not having known him, I'm still sure he would have prefered it too.

thanks everybody, and Hi to Paul + Maryanne. I have shown mum through most of these posts, and thats kinda helped, thanks maryanne for your post.

Other then that cheers everybody, i dont know how i come across as strong or whatever because i swear its far from how it is, though someone has to keep the regular flow of things going, and things need to be sorted for mum, she needs support and thats what im here for.

I will now just say the worst thing i have ever had to do in life is alone be the one to tell my own mum that her husband wont be coming home. Twas the hardest and longest 10 mins of my life and by far the worst. Thanks dad for coming so quick and being there to support me, and of course mum.

Just wanted to say I know we have to be strong through this Bruce and that you will be watching us, but you’ve left such a gap in our lives it just might take awhile. In the mean time make sure there aint’ just two zeddys waiting up there for you and dad but a third for me as well, don’t stress though - ill give you a good 80 years yet to get her ready for me!

...And logan dont worry if you need a "Shoulder" im there for you mate.

I think you speak for many of us - there's no shortage of people out there thinking about you Logan. Mate - I hardly know you but this has been on my mind.

Was wondering about throwing it in last night on the way home. Too much carnage, too many deaths. But no, I'm going to grow from this - learn and enjoy.

I don't claim to know Bruce, not sure I ever met him, but I know you can usually judge a person from the company they keep, and their reaction in times of need.

Bruce must have been a good guy, and sounds like you're good man too Logan.

Time will heal, but don't be in a hurry to heal. My step dad passed away Mar 2001 and it's an honour to visit his graveside now, and I do so when time permits.

Good luck Logan - and we're here for you. Talking helps, and exercise helps. Go for a run or a walk or throw stones out to sea. It all helps and gives you time to stop, think and say your goodbyes.

It's sad to hear it ended like this - wish I could do more.

Guys the last thing bruce would want is for people to stop riding. He loved his riding and died doing something he loved. The only thing that is important is that we put aside petty things and take everyday as your last. If your upset with someone get it out and make things right dont sit on it. You feel pretty crap when there is unresolved things which 99% of the time is something you should not be feeling crap about.

Reverent enigma will now stop preaching!

Hey KK.

Am really saddened to find this out, but am really glad that he got an opportunity to see your 20th birthday...and your new house. From what I've read, he really respected you as a person - which is just awesome to see - and I know you returned the sentiment.

I've not met either of you, but consider you family regardless, so take care of you, as well as your Mum.

And rest easy Bruce, we'll take care of the lad.

At this point in time it is still under investigation as to what exactly happend and to speculate on what happend would not be fair on family and friends

Like RIB, LBruce and MikeL I met Bruce for the first time on one of Zed's SH16 rides. He seemed a sensible confident rider and I remember the wave he gave me as he turned off the motorway on the homeward run. He will be sorely missed.

RIP Bruce

Hi Scorpygirl here

I just remember the big bear hugs after he came through the door at our place with his coolie bag full of beers. Then Paul (Rhino) and I would wake up in the morning and say "Did someone have a party and forget to invite us" as we took all the stuff out to the recycling bin!!

Then there was Bronwyn and the Roses Chocolates but that's another story.

Loves you all.

hahaha! oh how true it was Logan, how true it was! There was always the dirty old Bean Rock bottles lined up across the bottom edge of the garage, i never did beleive it was him alone (thought maybe mum had slipped a dozen down or something!) till i used to turn up and attend his ritual friday and saturday night, either rugby/sport or just watching movies and beer!

Also Hi Lee, dont hold any regrets hey! thats never fun for anybody and at times like these we must keep our chins up. Will be nice to meet you on Thursday.

and Maryanne, thanks for those memroies, and thank paul for the call not so long ago, its really hard to talk for everybody i guess, but alot gets felt without being said thru that phone line! do look forward to catching you guys again Thursday.

P.S have been meaning to say to everyone, at times like these i know everybody is thinking about the family and wishing us the best but please do all take care of yourselves! i remember how bad it feels just to be on the outside, and to be thinking of the immediate family involved and feeling so helpless but wanting to do whatever i could. well you all have, mum is overwhelmed with all the flowers shes received, and I have full time employment answering that phone every 10 mins! Thank you once again.
